Imagine all the Tupperware bins you could cram into that place.

It must be like bringing hoarders tv show to every day life.

If you have to move four items to get to one item it ain’t storage.

1,100 SF is a large garage.

I have a 3 car garage that is 700 Sqft larger than that house.

My home is 1,180 3 bed 2 bath built in 1968.

My last home was 3/2 1,600 sq/ft.

Currently living in a 2/2 1,100 sq/ft.

Absolutely zero issues. And its not just me living here. And its helped me not buy worthless junk that never gets used.

but can't we design them a little better looking than this?

The size of the lot forces it. There is not enough space to add a driveway on either size, so just make the garage the focal point.

I simply do not want to live that close to my neighbors. The noise, parking, privacy issues are stress that I dont want in my life

I'm confused by all the responses, though it appears you posted in good faith. This is an affordable new build.

No, it won't have a media or gift-wrapping room, nor will it have a Viking range. Haven't people been complaining for a while that cost-conscious starter homes are no longer being built? The bedrooms are 11x10, 12x10, and 11x14 (about the same size as my primary bedroom which is very comfortable with a king size bed in it).

Those homes are going for $500+ at the bottom of my neighborhood in Liberty Hill (N Austin) TX. People are scrambling for them.

I would not force a stray dog to live in Baytown Texas.

1,174 sq.ft?

So it’s about the size of my bedroom.

This is my dream. To actually downsize into about 1,300sf but trick it out with a 5-ton 17 seer inverter dehumidifier, 22kw standby nat gas, gfci throughout, and any other overkills I can think of. Like putting a Cadillac 500 V8 into a Miata.

Tell me about it. We're having a hell of a time finding anything smaller than freaking four bedrooms.

The problem with is that most of the 3bed houses you'll find are spec homes, and those can be suspect.

Most people are advocates of affordable housing until it's built close to them.

Was going to chime in to say this but you beat me to it. These "snout houses" are the most efficient use of the lot size, and due to zoning setbacks are often the only way to fit a house on a small lot. Most new build neighborhoods in Texas are ~40ft wide lots and average 2 car driveway is AT LEAST 20ft wide, more likely 24ft. If you want a side-entry garage, you've got to move the house way over to the edge of the lot. You can do a rear-entry garage with an alley behind the houses for driveways, but this eats up more of the land that the developer can't use for houses. Plus you end up with people parking on the street in front of the houses.

They're ugly, I hate the garage being the focal point of the house too, but unless you can afford a bigger lot, you aren't left with any other options.

House looks like it was built backwards on the lot.
