I’m of the belief that these are our tech, not aliens. I was just countering the post I quoted. To keep the ruse of aliens alive would be beneficial for keeping the citizens from really wanting answers about tech we’ve developed. Meanwhile, they want answers about a boogeyman that cannot be proven.

Have they ever ID’d one? If any non US fighter jet flew over a military base in the US, would the military wait to fire?

Hell I keep forgetting about my own potential theory. It's along the lines of "Folks, we've got a lot of work to do to get out ahead of this, to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon. Therefore, here's a blank check for research and development, to be conducted by private industry, of course."

All I am saying is that there have not been reports of these UAPs being aggressive. So if they are not aggressive and you have no idea what it is, what would be the consequences of shooting it (or at it)?
If whoever or whatever it is has the ability to create something that, by all accounts, we are not about create.. What else do they have? Not to mention based on its ability, it would be hard to hit. So what would other risk is involved in trying to take it down?

Seriously, if one day a press conference was called to address the nation.. Or maybe even the world and they release an official report telling the world that they have been interacting with life from other planets for decades, but they are visiting Earth more and more and life as we know it will change dramatically over the next decade, can you imagine the amount of people who would freak out?
Look how things got during the pandemic. We were at each other's throats fighting over wearing mask. You had the people who would flip the frick out if they looked at someone with no mask on and there were people flipping out on people because they had a mask on.
Everyone became an expert arguing with each other all because they read different articles on the internet.
If it was revealed that aliens will come here and start interacting with humans people would lose their minds.

It is a common governmental tactic.
Articles were written about how efficiently Trump used it.
Make an “inflammatory” comment or dominate the airwaves with a specific topic and have everyone watching the left hand while the right hand passes some “controversial” policy.
Governments RARELY act unless the results will be in their own interest.
Likely the same situation here.
Nothing of note related to UFOs will come of this.
