Lawyers of OT, what lawyer do you think has the highest hourly rate in Louisiana?

Watching Suits (which isn't real) and the lawyers charge $2,000 an hour in NYC.
Do you think any lawyers are charging $1,000+ an hour in Louisiana?
IANAL I'm just curious.

I suspect if you converted the income of some plaintiff's lawyers into an hourly rate, they are making way more than that per hour.
As for civil defense attorneys, there may be a few, but they are likely associated with NY or DC based firms that have that as a standard firm rate.

I am not a lawyer, but I work in Finance & Accounting for Manufacturing & Design company, and I review legal services invoices. I have run across several line items related to individual attorney's fees, and I have seen several attorneys who charge over $2K p/hr. This is in Georgia, though. These are normally from older, more established firms that have highly specialized practices ($800 mill - billion dollar acquisitions, etc.)

I doubt that you'll fine many, if any. That's big city rates for big city work, and we don't have any.

There are lawyers in Houston that charge $2500+ an hour.

Mike Small is probably up there for a serious felony

I would look at retainer fees, friend of mine gets 25K.

No doubt some of the big firms in NOLA and BR charge rates like that. I don't mean the Womac or Dudley, I mean Jones Walker probably charges Shell or other really large business $1000+/hour to handle matters in Louisiana. Same with BR - you probably have a few select presigious firms that charge that kind of rate to handle large corporate matters that relate to state government.

Reading some of the posts of the lawyers on TD, some of them are ripping people off at $40 per hour.

Not unusual to get into that range when you're using Baker Botts, Hunton, NRF, etc.
I was on a IPO deal team where we had BB and HAK on as advisers and we would joke that an hour call cost us 25k,

Most white shoe law firms on Poydras are considered to be doing really well at $500+ an hour depending on the type of client. Even 300 to 400 is great for certain types of work.
Houston and Atlanta would laugh at that. There are some really good lawyers in Nola and they are a bargain comparatively speaking.

There are probably some guys in New Orleans that get $1K an hour. I'd be shocked if there aren't a few.
