Sure the interest offsets it but you still get points. You’re the jackass who said you get points for paying it off. You get points no matter what.

WTF is the point of getting the points if the interest is more?

You are a slow learner if this is the way you handle your credit.

That is literally how they fund the entire networks of Visa, MC, Amex, DC, etc.

You have to pay for services, dude. The infra isn't free, tard.

Or just pay with cash, and step away.

Meh I'd trade rewards that I never use for an end to transaction fees.

Why do you choose reward cards with rewards you will never use?

If your payment is late you will forfeit the points for that month with most companies.

First hobby loss deductions and now this. I can see them being able to finagle this under Section 61 of the federal tax code, which is the scary part.

You do realize he said he pays his card off every month, right? So he's not paying interest.

So they want to take away the literal only incentive to use a credit card. I hate our government so much

This. I do the same thing. Put all my bills except mortgage on my credit card and pay it off every two weeks when I get paid.

Had like $2500 in points last year. Never once have I seen interest being added to the balance.

The interest only accrues if you have a balance after your payment due date

Wife and I decided to bank ours this year to fund Xmas, it's like a Christmas savings account but without any effort outside of not trying to use them on Amazon.

Those rewards are “an untaxed kickback,” said Brookings Institution senior fellow Aaron Klein, a former Treasury official and congressional economist. “The payment system is silently becoming a reverse Robin Hood, generating billions in untaxed side income for rich people.”

The money that banks and payment networks like Visa and Mastercard collect from swipe fees supports efforts to make transactions faster, more secure and less susceptible to fraud. But the bankrolling of expensive reward programs has spurred criticism, with economists from the Federal Reserve and International Monetary Fund saying they redistribute $15 billion annually from “less to more educated, poorer to richer, and high to low minority areas.”

Cute that you think Walmart/Amazon is giving you back those fees.

And Walmart should be giving me an employee discount for scanning and bagging my own groceries at the self check out.

There are many reasons to own a credit card outside of cash back/reward incentives, especially for businesses. I can see the bigger targets being business cash back cards flat promise thousands of $$$ back.

Not every business/person can pay for what they need all up front in cash. That's why credit was established. CC transactions are just miniature loans that you promise to pay back.

I do agree that the government is trash for wanting to tax the free money that responsible spenders earn.

I have a hard time believing Washington is trying to protect us. The next step will be to tax us on sky miles, free hotel nights and car rentals.

Maybe it's time to cash in some of those earnings.

In many cases banks are losing money on an individual who has a high CB card (such as 2%) and never carries a balance.

That is exactly what I do. Use cards for everything. Pay off balance and take the cash reward that is not taxable as income. Rewards add up quick and can be pretty substantial at the end of the month.

You get penalized with interest if you don't pay the statement balance off. That offsets any points you get from the spending.

Yeah he pays no interest though b/c he pays it off every month. I do the same.

Hell, I just got $750 for opening a new business card (no annual fee).

This is going to be a thread of idiots who don't know how use a credit card versus people who are financially responsible and take advantage of CC's.
