Not sure you want to shoot someone over a gas can.
But if you must, put a round between his shoulder blades.

You literally suggested having items in a store equipped with a remotely triggered explosive the other day.
Yes I did, but it was more like "it would be cool if"..
And it was in reference to those kids who were doing the flash mob robbing thing. I just said that a way to stop them from doing that is have some kind of explosive device on every product in the store that can be activated when something like that happens.

So if you can’t prove it, how do you know it was the kid?

Nope. But might be able to go after the parents for negligence. Maybe.
Doubt the juice would be worth the squeeze though.

In Texas, it's perfectly legal provided it's reasonable to assume the only way to retrieve the stolen property is to use deadly force.
I am sure there is a stipulation that the theft must take place after dark before you can legally kill the mfker.

Here is a simple rule:
If they are running away, or have their back to you, trying to leave, do not shoot. Some one not facing you, leaving or running away from you is not a threat.
You can listen to the yokels/rednecks/hoosiers/white trash on here who think they can use the laws from the Old Wild West, and then put yourself into a bad situation, or be smart and only use deadly force when it needs to be.
2 Dumb asses locally will be doing jail time for using deadly force, when a criminal was driving away from scene(home owner chased him down while shooting into car), and other, as guy ran from the scene away from the home(home owner chased him and shot him in back.

Call the police. Not a good idea to confront them, I would probably slip out the back and fire a shotgun blast in the air to speed them on their way.
If they are breaking in, blow them to Hell.

You damn right I do. I don't want people stealing ANY of my stuff.
If a few more thieves got shot, there'd be a lot less thieving.
While I agree with your sentiment, I'm not risking going to the booty house over a little gas.

I only read the first 2 pages, so it may have already been said, but...there is prolly a 75% chance that you know the person who stole your gas can, and you prolly call him friend.

Sounds like they were planning to burn your house down and kill every one in it. Perfectly good reason to me.

Turns out it was our neighbors 8 year old kid. He tried to also set our house on fire which almost worked. Realized this afternoon that the internet went down bc he burned the cable with a spray paint can and a lighter. Our gas can was empty (luckily) or else he could have burned our house down with our dog inside
Holy shite. If I were you, i would not be able to sleep again until that crazy kid wasn’t my neighbor anymore.

You need to set a booby trap with that ignites the gas can when the kid comes to steal it. Use diesel so you don’t blow up the whole neighborhood. Post the video.
