A storm never stopped George Clooney or Mark Wahlberg....they’ve done some of their best fishing while a storm was near

Not quite. With the way things are looking right now there is a way better chance both hit LA than Texas

The system has been guided by the ridge to it's north but it will slow down as it reaches the edge of the ridge over the next day or two. This will allow for vorticity (spin) to "pile up" in the WCAB and give 97L a brief chance to gain named status.

As we mentioned a few days ago this is the region that would be most favorable for Marco on it's trek towards the Gulf. As has been pointed out by many, these small systems are prone to wild swings in intensity and Marco is taking advantage of the favorable conditions this morning.

After that, both the Euro and GFS show an upper level trough anchored across the Gulf that will shred any system trying to move westward.

While the GFS-para shows a different scenario with the axis of the UL trough being far enough west to provide a favorable poleward outflow channel vs. shredding shear. These aren't huge differences but do illistruate how complicated the setup over the Gulf will be over the coming days.

Also, this is a bit of a win for the GFS-para as the orientation of the upper level trough over the Gulf is in a more favorable orientation than the GFS was showing a few days ago. Ultimately, the small size of Marco, that is allowing it to take advantage of conditions this morning, will also mean that it could degrade almost as quickly as the UL trough starts to shear the system later on.

Both of these storms are going to Texas
Nah. Hell, I’d argue that a stronger Marco increases the chance for both to make landfall in LA. But as it goes, a stronger Marco limits Laura’s max potential

Marco has shown a Texas landfall for 36 hours now and Laura has been trending west every single update for the last 36 hours.

Recon continues to observe sharp pressure falls within the tiny center of #Marco - and an increase in winds on the east side to ~65 mph at the surface. This is the risk of the small circulations - they can intensify quickly like this.
Marco gonna hit hurricane status today

The models guiding forecast track are playing catch-up which produce downstream impacts.

Well I can pretty much assume that my flight into BTR Thursday afternoon will be canceled.
Thanks a lot, 2020.

Can you fly in on Monday before the storms?

It did stop them, permanently.

I think you missed part of that movie

I think it will too! Down the line, it will loose some strength as RD stated.

Throw out the models
Marco is stronger/more East and moving faster And more North than any model predicted so they are already wrong

I go to sleep for a few hours and Marco decides to try and blow the shite up

I mean it's 2020 did you expect anything less?

Levi seems to be hinting pretty strongly that he disagrees with the models and thinks this will end up further east into Louisiana. In my opinion, he is one of the best out there. It’s crazy having to closely watch two at the same time.
Levi's been fairly consistent with what he's said... a stronger Marco will go further north... thus Louisiana needed to keep an eye on Marco
but also... a stronger Marco will push Laura's potential Gulf landfall back east as well and help limit Laura's potential development
