Kudos to Cleco and the City of Alexandria

Kudos to Cleci on the INMATES of Alexandria. They have a program that uses their DOC houses inmates for working things like this and litter detail, weekeating drainage canals, etc.

Don’t ask me how I know.

I see them along the side of the road often and their vans constantly running the roads

definitely filling out the "hard labor" portion of their sentences

Can you post the pics you're getting of Grand Chenier?

I'm also looking for info/pics from down there. Have a extended family out that way. Closest I've seen is from THIS aerial footage

My parents live off of W Prien. On the north, east, and south sides they have siding removed from the house, areas where you can see drywall from the outside, and in at least 3 different spots large holes all the way through.

None of it was due to trees either, just pure wind.

Home for the foreseeable future:

I will be taking whore baths and shitting in a bucket. What’s funny is I actually do this for fun a lot. It’s miserable now though. This ain’t camping weather.

Checking in from BFE, LA at the MIL’s.

Heading back tomorrow. Got some pics of my home. My patio awning is destroyed. Moderate roof damage. The picture I saw was taken from a distance and it looks like I may have a few holes in my roof. I’m one of the lucky one’s where a tree didn’t fall on my home. They fell away from it.

No one in my family suffered catastrophic losses. There’s damage but there’s nothing that can’t be replaced.

Gonna be a long few weeks.

There’s nothing quite like the totality of power outage darkness at night

There’s no light from alarm clocks, modems, cable boxes, etc inside and no light from street lights coming in through the window. Absolute darkness.

As a result of April 27, 2011, our area was without power for 4 and half days. That is the longest I have been without electricity.

The funny part came when they restored power. They did it in the middle of the night, probably around 2ish in the AM. I was in bed. The girl I was dating at the time had gone to stay with her folks in Memphis. The bedside lamp had been left on, and when they threw the switch bright light right in my eyes woke me up. For some reason, the first thing I did was reach up and turn the lamp off and grabbed my flashlight to go around checking shite. It took longer than it should have for me to recognize the error of my ways.

Also, I have no idea how many times I attempted to flip on the light in the bathroom, but it was many. Just habit, I guess.

Fortunately, we had beautiful weather for a week after those storms with no real heat. I also learned that I like percolated coffee and that I don't NEED half the shite in my freezer.

My mom’s house lost some siding but the house is good. Yard is a complete mess. Fence is gone.

My place looks to be good.

Those that were affected more, this is not an attempt to do anything. We all are there, we all went through this. I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck for the last 3 days.

God speed to all of you who were affected (basically everyone) and I’m saying prayers still. We’ll need every one.

If any of y'all without power and is in need of a genset, I have one I will loan out. Not a big one, but will run a Frig, freezer and a small ac window unit. I'm in the New Roads area and I can meet half way to LC if need be. Wish there was more I could do to help those in need.

Oh, have 15 gallons of gas too!

Roads are fine, I just drove on Verot, kaliste, and pinhook, all clear. Id imagine most businesses should be up and running.

Buddy of mine sent me videos today and it looked like a bomb went off.

Garden District had a lot of damage. We have a few trees down in the back but overall minimal damage and I'm thankful. Got a good bit cleaned up already. No power though. Lines were down all around us so that's not surprising. I have a nice comfortable condo in Nola to go to but we just don't want to leave the place.

So, anyone know a tree guy?

What’s the situation to get through Lake Charles? Are you able to get to 210?

we got TO lake charles on I-10 with no problem. Getting around inside of Lake Charles was a chore. We didn't see any signs of I-10 closure. But, not sure what it looked like on the other side of LC.
