I am in Houston and have something going on in BR. Not looking to go way out of the way or mess around inside lake Charles side streets.

power was pretty spotty from lake charles to Laffy. Most stores were either closed or operating without lights. Not sure how they were handling transactions. on the bright side Best Stop was open.

It looks like the windows that remained were peppered with shotgun blasts. Wind was insane.

Sorry if already posted, saw this on a WWL meteorologist FB page...

For those wondering where the unsurvivalable storm surge of 15-20 feet was located I think it has been found. According to research done by a local NWS Slidell Meteorologist, his colleague Phil and @backinblack_wx the Army Corp gage on the Mermentau River at Grand Chenieer had a storm surge of 17 feet. This is located to the east of Cameron, LA. It makes sense since the highest surge would be located east of the eye. Fortunately, this area is mostly swamps and bayous with little to no population

I’ve heard rumors that 10 is closed and can’t get in from Texas. Does anyone know if this is true? I’m hoping to head in from Houston tomorrow go check on the parents house.

Even if 10 is closed I don’t see why you couldn’t take 210

ETA: jk it’s stopped well before then

Impossible. I was told the NWS was a bunch of fear mongers and there was only a little rain and strong winds associated with the storm.

Thank goodness the surge was limited to rural areas. 17 feet is....whew.

Sorry, I was referring to it being closed at the LA/TX border.

Confirmed it’s closed at the border. It’s taken someone I know 4 hours. Had to head north, cross the border, then back south. Hearing it will be open tonight at 5pm.

Dumb question: any reason I can’t or shouldn’t go to Shreveport Monday from BR?

No idea. One can only hope that the riverboat hitting that damn bridge will finally be enough to deem it structurally unsafe so they can finally get action on getting a new bridge! Ha

I'm sure once they move the boat, they will inspect the bridge after. Problem there is getting crews in for that.

I am supposed to be traveling from BR- Dallas this evening. Should I expect more than normal congestion? Are the roads open?

20 from shreveport to Longview was normal this morning. Granted that was 330 but no construction or anything like that.
