I am, in no way, trying to make light of that or hoping to see any destruction.

It’s like using a flashlight to try and see behind a person’s shadow.

Northern eye wall so dense it’s blocking the radar beam? Idk, that’s probably a dumb thing to say

They also leave some room for error for the fact they don’t sample the highest winds, statistically. It’ll be close. The numbers are there if they want to pull the trigger.
in for a penny, in for a pound
might as well go ahead and pull the trigger

Man y'all are going hard in the paint about not being able to see through the eyewall on radar after I brought that up.

Any Cameron surface level wind reports?
Posted on 8/26/20 at 11:39 pm to CobraCommander83
Cameron has entered the eyewall.

Safe to just assume the entire eyewall is fricking impressive right?
Yeah, just can’t see it, so it’s a little misleading to those staring at KLCH.

How many inches or rain have fallen thus far you think? 2" in the last 2 hours at maybe?
Posted on 8/26/20 at 11:40 pm to Duke
If you are getting that sustained You are going to break Camilles wind gust record and go over 200 mph. That’s insane. I hope everyone left

Because the radar is looking through the Northern eyewall to see the other parts of the eyewall behind it. It's like if you were trying to describe what a smokescreen looked like but had to look through another smokescreen to see the one you're trying to describe. You'll be able to describe the smokescreen right in front of you well, but you're not going to get nearly as good a look at the second smokescreen as you will the one right in front of you.

The NOAA site updates only every 6 minutes but the next few reports should be interesting if the instrument survives.
