The hurricanetrack.com cam in Cameron is the one to watch. It’s dark, but you can see how intense the rain is and hear the wind.

This Cameron live feed still looks to have a light on across from it. Rain picked up and coming down sideways.

Are we taking bets whether the cam makes it or not?

here's my question... since it's a dropsonde reading would it be a gust or sustained?

It's considered a 10 second wind IIRC. There are conversions for 10-s to 1 minute to 10 minutes.

So far the most interesting thing on my Ring is that the tree frogs sound pissed about the wind. Not a whole lot of action, which I’ll gladly take.

What is the difference between and extreme wind warning and a hurricane warning? Lacks the surge threat I guess?

Gotcha.

My curiosity and enthusiasm for weather can have it come off wrong sometimes. Just wanted to be clear.

I'd be obsessing about the storm anyway. So at least I hopefully helped a few people posting over here.

Good luck with everything Slow. Keep us updated on your situation back home when you know.

Crestview floods when it rains bad in LC already right?

No, Crestview has a really good drainage system. There are parts of South Lake Charles that are really really bad though.

The Calcasieu Pass instrument site is just inland less than a mile from the beach in Cameron.
