I’m wouldn’t say it’s a Vermilon Bay storm but if this motion continues I’d say we looking at a definite Cameron Parish landfall

So, somewhere in like half of the current cone?

Just finished my degree but I'm not a professional.

I did enjoy the downvotes you got though.

I even noticed it yesterday on Fox8 with David Bernard. Kim Holden and Lee Zurik straight up asked him “So it looks like this storm is squarely heading towards west of Lake Charles?”

Bernard’s response: “Well this is what the consensus is right now” not a definitive Yes which tells me something is off to where they can’t definitively say Yes yet. I’m waiting until the advisories this evening

Certainly better to be west of the storm but it doesn't mean you are out of the woods. Sometimes these things spawn tornados and wind bands can gust a long way away from the center. This won't be a huge flooding event outside of the storm surge areas. The wind is the bitch of this one.

I think when they take the coast from SE to NE they push more water.

Not sure, but that area of Cameron is highly susceptible to big storm surges because of the geology much like the MS coastline as well. My friend with camp at Heberts had a pile of water after Rita and unfortunately this looks like it could be similar on the surge estimates. Probably going to push a large surge all up into Calctsieu parish.

SE to NE isn’t a direction of motion

But hurricanes can build up larger surges if they make landfall directly perpendicular to the coast like what Katrina did for example. And angled landfall can limit the size of the surge.

It's hard for any professional to make a definitive statement about events which have not yet occurred. That's in any profession.

You can made an educated prediction, which is what these guys are doing.

Having a baby and then figuring out if I want a masters and try to get into a Pathways internship with the NWS while I do it or just get a job with the BS. Not really sure yet. Worrying about the next big life step first.
