Yeah, I'm just saying the conditions can evolve I wouldn't take it lightly right now. 13 is the more concerning one but this one can slip in the backdoor and surprise us. 2 in same damn week. A lot of action this season already.

The stronger projections the more northerly the path.
Weaker storm southern Texas, strong storm La.

Hope TD14 doesn't cause too much trouble in Cancun. Supposed to be heading there over Labor Day weekend.

Colorado State University hurricane researcher Phil Klotzbach said there have never been two hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico at the same time.

But there is precedent for two tropical storms to occupy the Gulf simultaneously.

According to Klotzbach, the 1933 storms dubbed Treasure Coast and Cuba-Brownsville, and the 1959 storms Beulah and an unnamed system were in Gulf of Mexico together.

No but initially it could shear the system and keep it from strengthening. .

That's true. Currently shear is expected to be in the light to moderate range. HWRF and HMON are predicting that shear won't have much of an impact on strength. The global models are saying the opposite, to some extent. It will be interesting to see how it resolves.

Nah, I admit that I meant to say east and then typed west. Just a total brain fart.

A lot of nothing burgers so far so I don't see why the action so far matters.

But yes we need to keep an eye open for next week like has been said the last two days.

Because we're just getting into the peak of the season and all it takes is one?

So... this is actually a serious question... could the systems actually absorb into one another and form a massive storm? Or, would they work like sticking opposite ends of magnets together and push each other away (further east and further west)? How does this work? I don't recall seeing two systems in the smaller gulf next to each other around the same time frame.

ETA: who tf keeps downvoting me? This is actually a serious question. The above post talks about in the past there has only been two occasions where this has happened. But what did the storms do?

IMO they are two far away from each other to meet. It looks like one is going over to the southwestern gulf and the other one will get real close to Florida.

That's true... I guess if they were in the gulf at the same time as larger systems, it would be different.

I’m wondering this myself. It’s what I’m hoping for at least!

They will not combine and it looks like La will dodge a direct hit. Just catch hell being on the wet side of the storm headed for Houston.
