what is YOUR prediction? Seems like pinpointing landfall right now with the system shooting off or trying to shoot off LLCs would be difficult right?

I don't make public predictions

But, yes, pinning landfall for any system that isn't yet in the Gulf is tricky and this system is even more so. However, it's not a knife edge situation but more just refining the landfill window and NHC is best at that.

It's almost as if the Weather Channel wants chaos to occur.

"This COULD happen" "It STILL COULD turn" "Don't let your guard down"

They are the CNN of weather.

Too early to bank on exact landfall. Anyone within 70 to 100 miles of both edges of the cone needs to be ready.

Out of curiosity, what part of the country do you live in rds? And you work for ________________ (I can't remember!). Just know that I trust every weather post that you make.

10-4 and thank you for all you do for these threads. Like many have said and I'll echo, I get all of my hurricane and storm related information from these threads. It was literally because of the thread on here on Hurricane Harvey that I was able to make a quick decision based off of what you and others posted. I got supplies and such before the "panic" in Houston hit (where I lived at the time). My wife and family thought I was crazy... lol

yeah i'm not holding you to it. i remember people talking about the trajectory in/out of Cuba being key

I just don't like making really solid predictions on here. I know enough to know I don't know enough to be doing that.

That idea on trajectory and how organized the storm is coming off Cuba still matters a lot. It's the big picture table setter and then we have to worry about the little details.

then there is a post about it being more southerly than thought, but then the update came a few posts later without really much western movement. maybe they'll have a better idea for the next update.

The NHC is going to be conservative on moving the path around with the questions left to answer. They're going to follow their consensus model (weighted average of the good models) until there's a little more clarity.

When is a storm prediction a lie?
When are bread and milk most valuable?
Why does toilet paper matter most?
Circulation
Preparation
Moderation
Watch the water
Critical thinking

Trust Duke
Trust rds
