Heck, yesterday they were telling Memphis to prepare for outages, gas up the generators and made sure they work. Laura is apparently a monster that was going to maintain low level hurricane status all the way through the Ohio Valley.

Now... I very well might be wrong, but, although I can remember us having one inland tropical storm warning some time ago, nothing's ever actually held together that long... seems to me like it'd have to start out a WHOLE lot stronger than Laura probably will when it makes landfall.

I mean, I'm not a weatherman or anything... so what do I actually know?

I a not saying I want a direct here around the BR area but if they cancelled school for a full week and we don't even get a drop of rain, I am gonna be so pissed. Like give us a few bad thunderstorms.

Hey rds dc,
I enjoyed and found it helpful when you used to include satellite imagery when you update the first post with the cones.

If it’s not too much trouble would you mind linking those images in future updates?

Humbly,

As I’m sure many here agree, if you filter out 90 percent of the arguments and insults and focus on the 4-5 people who really know the topic (Duke, RDS_DC, a couple others) plus follow the links to reliable non-mainstream clickbait sites like Space City Weather, you get very good information.

I work at a place that should be paying a lot of attention to the weather and I was shocked at how poorly informed most of my colleagues were today.

Thankfully one of the old heads sent around some work from some oil &gas industry meteorologists but I’m not sure enough people paid attention.

Looks like Berger needs to check his guidance, because it didn't move at all to the west. If anything, it moved east some.

Was coming to post this exactly when I saw him ask you.

I've never seen rds make final call. He'll provide editorial content at times, but never a final, personal prediction.

I wish there was a stickied thread with just them posting, and another thread like the one we have now. It’s pretty incredible the amount of shite you have to sift through (Peej particularly) to get to the knowledgeable information.

Makes me think he works in the industry, perhaps with one of the aforementioned oil and gas companies.

BayTiger was a great source as well but I think he has no longer posting on these threads.

He was with the NOAA, I believe and was a new starter around the time of Gustav. If he’s still there he must be pretty high up.

Nope, but the information he posts is good.

Takes 10 minutes to learn here what would take an hour of watching the worry channel

Anybody have a best guess on how far hurricane force winds will extend out from the center of Laura at landfall? I know every storm is different but anybody have thoughts on this?

No one will believe me BUT there was one storm that they did indeed limit to only those with real knowledge as deemed worthy by Chicken. It was great as there were 2 threads -- you could go straight to one for weather info and another for local conditions/stories/bullshite.

I see the GFS 12z is just running on Tropical Tidbits. Isn’t 12z = 7am Central?
Anyone know why there is a lag of it being posted?
