Government regulation has been effecting business since the dawn of time...Microsoft would have owned the world 15 years ago if not for regulations. The casinos aren't hurting either.

Seriously, casinos are one of the best examples of government regulation effecting business. You have to get a casino license, and they’re nearly impossible to get without paying off everybody. Then they ensure your monopoly for decades while you rake in the money

This is interesting from a statistical viewpoint. Would be interested to know if other casinos subject to a smoking ban had similar drop offs in revenue. At the very least it says that shitty habits are correlated.

If you have ever set foot in a casino you would have known this would happen. 99% of the regulars who frequent a casino daily smoke. As anti-smoking as I am, it was a bad idea from the start as far as keeping them in business. I mean at some point it has to go away for the betterment of society....but no question smoking and frequent gambling go hand in hand so they have to pivot and do something.

The people who own/operate casinos are no different than drug dealers, who capitalize off of and addiction

You can still smoke in casinos here.

But all casinos are on Native land...so they were exempt from AZ state laws banning smoking in public places.

Some regulation monitored by federal agencies, like monopolistic practices, can't be avoided....but when this happens at local levels it sucks and hurts way more. Think how utilities are regulated at local levels.

Has zero to do with this discussion....btw an 11% loss in revenue is big.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say smokers aren’t the problem

meh, your tax dollars will pay for something they get in life eventually, might as well smoke and get it done earlier instead of dying slower and older while dragging out the bill for 10-15 years.

Maybe you should go picket outside a Poboy Express for contributing to heart disease in the BR area too

I'm thankful for smokers in casinos. They keep me out and prevent me from losing all I have. Walked through "The Slipper" the other day and just could not fathom the stench that was going up my nose.

were you surprised by this? Did you not think it would smell like smoke? You

because smokers suck arse. They are trashy and ignorant. The correlation between intelligence and smoking is crystal clear. Crystal motherfricker!

Do you pay for healthcare?

Without fatties and smokers....... it would be a fraction of the cost.

Smoke up Johnny.
