Saints can play with no fans which is possible. If there are fans allowed at Saints games, then these events should absolutely take place.

I suppose that circumstances could dictate this, but why not let things play out for a month or two before deciding this? If things are sufficiently settled down there is no reason some or all of these can't go forward.

If she is calling off these events now, she might as well include Mardi Gras too. This is economic hari kari.

they can limit the amount of people allowed in if they are worried about social distancing. ...I've been on weekdays when there was barely 25k and Ive been on weekends when there was 100k.

I wonder if they are wanting to get so far in the hole that the fed gov't has to bail them out

Then you realize the difference is negligible for interaction.

If they are going to do that then they can just play at Tulane or even the practice facility. You dont need a 80k seat dome to play with no fans

shite while we're at it...Jazz fest can still go on with no crowd either...just the bands and live stream the sets

weekdays aren't bad but weekends are always a huge draw if there is no rain. 8hrs of people sitting on top of one another, many people traveling from out of state and internationally.

Still too early to make that declaration. Id be more concerned going to that than a Saints game, but thats just me.

NOLA is approaching permanent damage as it is. This would be a death blow. Billions in tourism and taxes lost for essentially an entire year.

I still don’t understand why she answered this question without having a firm answer she gave her “recommendation”. Then she was not prepared for follow up question on the Saints. How can you recommend no large gatherings and then not be prepared for the question on the Saints. It’s six months out no one would have said anything if she would have said it’s to early to make those decisions.

That whole press conference gave the impression that while things will be open stay the frick out of NOLA for 2020. That message will cripple the city further than it already is.
