No Jazz festival this year and they cant have it in the fall because of the QH meet in August and the thoroughbreds arriving in September.

What about Bayou Classic?

If y’all think this is bad wait till she makes some up in in the air statement about Mardi Gras. That is the next logical question to be asked after what about the Saints games. I have no doubt she will milk the a Mardi Gras decision for all that its worth.

It’s called CYA (cover your arse). She learned from all the people now saying Mardi Gras should have been cancelled - which was impossible at the time

I agree. That’s what I’ve been saying. It takes 3 weeks for them to set up then 2/3 weeks to tear down. The damage that is done to the track and infield takes months to repair.
There’s no way they can have Jazz Fest in October and have the track ready for racing in mid November.
If they could pull that off they would have moved JF to the fall years ago.

Glad y’all have the horses in mind. Jazz fest ruins the infield
I don’t think the TBs are allowed on track til October, though

What NOLA neighborhood do you live in that doesn’t have a ton of AirBNBs?

My 2019 exceeded 2018 and 2017 and Jan 2020 was best month ever. I have 10 units.

Meanwhile, SWB was across the street from my house ON EASTER SUNDAY fixing a minor leak that just started a week ago. Keep in mind we’ve had leaks go untouched for over a year. There’s 2 more dudes just sitting in the truck with the backhoe. 6 guys logging holiday pay for no reason.

Lol. Yeah I don’t know what that dude is talking about

I gave you specific example. It sucked tor people getting new licenses but well located existing units were fine.
Please explain your position - I’m honestly curious.

I guess that means no Elton John in June
I thought about that. Maybe he could move it to BR. He played here in 2016.

quote:The difference between now and then is that after Katrina the local economy was propped up big time by the billions of dollars in insurance money flowing in. Contractors had more work than they could handle and retail was booming because everyone was replacing what Katrina destroyed and had insurance money to do it. That kept the economy going while tourism industry recovered. There isn’t gonna be all that insurance money flowing in this time or the big boost in construction and retail to provide jobs to people who would normally rely on tourism to make a living
Don't be foolish. Katrina did far more damage to nola, and it recovered.

Expect her to announce the cancelation of hurricane season also.

wonder if they are wanting to get so far in the hole that the fed gov't has to bail them out
At this point, that’s a risky idea. We’ve already spent $4T and haven’t even begun to get into the pending economic malaise. The feds May refuse to help her. And a lot of other cities.

Every time I hear this woman talk I’m shocked that she won an election.

FEMA money is going to given out to municipalities everywhere.
Non of these mayors or governors are going to fight against the feds on lock down and distancing measures in the new normal.
