Yeah, just go run at the guy holding a gun about to execute someone, and I am sure the NOPD will be able to respond to the murder in time.

LaToya is ghetto trash, maybe she should take her own advice and try to stop a murder by talking to the person holding the gun, we would all be much better for it.

God I hate her with every fiber of my being. She's the WORST mayor in the long, storied, corrupt history of New Orleans.

While she's not wrong that they should have called the cops instead of posting it to social media, the only reason it got any traction was it was posted to social media.

How do we know they didn't call the cops before and/or after ? The video started with her on the ground in pain, who is to say the person videoing didn't call 911 to report hearing gun fire then went to the window to record. Also, the video stops not too long after the shooting and the perp walks away, who is to say the person videoing didn't call the cops to report the crime afterwards?

There are several things on Democratic Mayors priority's list and crime is not one of them.

I mean, that's not a wrong statement

What would calling the police have done in that situation exactly?

So they can show up with the coroner 45 minutes later?

The only thing that would have possibly prevented her completed execution was someone else shooting him.

While I believe this used to be true, I'm not sure anymore. The governments are doing everything they can in big cities to bury the news of crime. If you just send it to the police and it goes into the black hole, nobody can do anything about it. It gets posted online and now the police and govt cannot deny it happened and it creates public pressure to actually do something.

I get it is distasteful but for me this is getting back to stopping the movement that "emotions" and "feelings" are more important than truth. Will it upset people to see it? Sure. Is saving their feelings worth risking the truth getting buried? Not in my opinion.

nailed it.

Hell, you gotta have someone to answer the 911 call. NOLA is lacking both, apparently.

Not this weekend though, she hired temporary help for Essence and had the nerve to brag about it in a press conference.

This is what I was pondering. Calling 911 wasn't preventing that execution. Had a good citizen shot the armed man with the rifle intent on executing that woman before he did it, he would rot in jail for murder as a result.

I'm sorry, I was told by Democrats that calling the police on a black person is basically giving them the death sentence

While I agree as well. That is not why they issued the statement. They were just mad the video made them and New Orleans look bad because there was an execution in broad day light.

100% this.

That city's leadership is just so inept. I just can't imagine living somewhere like that and continually voting for the same things and never changing. It makes no sense.

Similar to SWB and Murphy Paul, they are more concerned with social media posts and information getting out to the public that exemplifies their ineptitude and malfeasance than the underlying crimes bring committed. Deflect deflect deflect. It’s very easy to protest, criticize and be outraged when you were not in power. Now that you are in power, God forbid if anyone is critical of your inability to lead or manage law-enforcement.

Such a nasty woman, she upset that her daughter sent her the video and that’s how she found out about it lmao
Teedy also mad as frick about RoevWade got overturned and she’s worried about womens rights/safety. I guess throwing down in the bathroom of a concert venue don’t count. What a piece of shite.

Much like crosses being placed along highways where traffic fatalities have occurred, maybe New Orleans can start placing mini Afro picks of peace in the spots where homicides have taken place

It’s almost incredible she’s a mayor. This lady in the private sector wouldn’t be trusted to run a night shift at Wendy’s.

It basically boils down to the chief of police asking the public to serve the police by providing the evidence directly to them, and to protect the police by not posting it to social media.

It's fricking Upside Down World.

Would they still be upset if the people posting/sharing the video had tagged NOPD? I mean, if they're monitoring their social media platforms like it appears they are, tweeting at them is probably faster than going through the process of dialing 911 and dealing with a dispatcher.
