Translation: Don't post videos so people can actually see what's happening here. Clown world.

Ferguson said that if you happen to have a recording of a crime and want to send it to police, that is certainly one thing they would champion, but he said putting it on social media is distasteful and disrespectful.

I mean, that's not a wrong statement

It may be better received if she actually cared about correcting things.

They're just empty words.

While I agree as well. That is not why they issued the statement. They were just mad the video made them and New Orleans look bad because there was an execution in broad day light.

The chief mentioned something as it relates to checking our mental status...and capacity as a society. Mental capacity is a big issue. I agree.

Are you going to intervene if you aren’t armed with someone who has a long gun?

If they had called 911 instead they would not have caught the shooter.

While I believe this used to be true, I'm not sure anymore. The governments are doing everything they can in big cities to bury the news of crime. If you just send it to the police and it goes into the black hole, nobody can do anything about it. It gets posted online and now the police and govt cannot deny it happened and it creates public pressure to actually do something.

I get it is distasteful but for me this is getting back to stopping the movement that "emotions" and "feelings" are more important than truth. Will it upset people to see it? Sure. Is saving their feelings worth risking the truth getting buried? Not in my opinion.

Exactly this. The entire democrat party is going into the fall on a platform of "it's not as bad as it looks" and/or "this upheaval is good for us".

Watching a lady get executed in broad daylight does not prove out that narrative.

While she's not wrong that they should have called the cops instead of posting it to social media, the only reason it got any traction was it was posted to social media.

Gee Teedy, you have to have officers to send to the scene. Hell, you gotta have someone to answer the 911 call. NOLA is lacking both, apparently.

Holy shite...

an execution-style slaying of a woman in broad daylight
quote:

Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson expressed strong emotions over a video

Are we supposed to care about your emotions when we've been expressing "strong emotions" about the lawlessness in the city to no avail?
quote:

Ferguson likewise was appalled, and he called out citizens who take time to record a crime rather than calling 911 to try to prevent it or to aid in capturing the criminal.

Appalled about posting the video to social media? Why aren't you appalled at the execution-style slaying of a woman in broad daylight?
quote:

“We have to check our mental status as a society,”

From some reason, I don't think you're talking about the murderers and other assorted criminals.
quote:

“They’re recording instead of calling 911 and we have to move beyond that. We have to get help to those in distress.”

Ferguson said that if you happen to have a recording of a crime and want to send it to police, that is certainly one thing they would champion, but he said putting it on social media is distasteful and disrespectful.

WRONG, a-hole. We shouldn't be getting help to those in distress, it's YOUR job to prevent the distress in the first place. What's distasteful and disrespectful is the level of lawlessness that you've allowed to happen in the city. It's absolutely unconscionable for you to stand up there and berate the public for sharing your incompetence with the world.

Call 911 and be put on hold for 10 minutes and then wait 10 minutes for the one car on patrol that morning to show up.

I agree with what he said generally but I can’t believe that it what they are upset about.
