NOLA has less than a zero % chance to improve as a city with Latoya Cantrell as Mayor.

I didn’t vote for her and didn’t care for her as a City Council member, but the fact that she picked an outsider with real water utility and public works experience to head the S&WB over some political crony gives me a glimmer of hope.

I wanted to take a bunch of pics of the S&WB last year when they were fixing a small leak across the street from my house. The hole they dug was about 18"x 18" and maybe 8-12" deep. The busted up the concrete of my neighbor's driveway with a sledgehammer. No big equipment necessary. The slow leak was left untouched for almost 2 months. When they showed up on a Sunday there were S&WB trucks in front of 6 houses. 2 of them were towing heavy equipment. There had to be at least 12-15 guys out there while 2 of them handled the leak. At one point a bunch of them were just chilling under my tree. It was something. Best part is the leak came back a few months later. When they showed up to fix it, same thing. It was a Sunday evening and a street full of trucks. It's the single most corrupt public works department in the country. It has to be.

Your entire post was 100% accurate. Well said.

I really can’t complain about Cantrell. She’s the first Mayor since before Katrina to give NOFD a much overdue raise. And another is soon to come.
She has a incredible relationship with the Union board as well.
She also is going to be the one to remove that man in the middle.
So far, the firefighters, in streets, running 50k medical calls and hundreds of fires a year are finally being treated fairly.
The last 3 mayors shite on them and their families for decades.
Neglected their retirements, opposed a raise, forced S&WB work on them, paid starting guys $10 an hour, took OT away, forced them to use outdated and dangerous equipment, etc.

So one of the most loyal and dedicated departments to the citizens is behind her, so far.

I am not sure exactly what is the problem---the employees were sleeping and they were fired.

Does the city council believe they should be informed of every single employee disciplinary action??

There is no possible way Cantrell can be worst than Landrieu in administering the city.

First off Latoya's husband gets caught with a joint in his pocket in the Parish Courthouse

Latoya gets caught misusing a city credit card for personal use Now she caught in a lie and cover up.....

This is a pattern that will lead her to jail

No it won't, bc she’s a politician and this is Louisiana.

You didn’t know Mitch was an honest politician who never lied or “lost” money?
He would never deceive these posters from New Orleans. Never. He always did what was in the best interest of his employees and citizens.

Wrong.

It was covered up and they resigned after the word got out.

Latoya lied and said the city council was aware of them sleeping when in fact they weren’t.

She also said it’s been public knowledge they were sleeping and it wasn’t.

It’s a complete shitshow.

You’re not sure what the problem is??

I was under a boil advisory for almost 3 days because 2 S&WB employees were sleeping on the job and the Mayor has been knowing this for 2 months.

The residents and city council didn’t know.

So now, 2 months later the media, residents and city council finds out the truth, she starts lying and trying to cover it up after getting called out it’s no big deal??

They weren’t fired 2 months ago when the Mayor, who happens to be the president of the S&WB, knew about this, they all of sudden resigned this week

You can’t be this naive and tell me, “I don’t see what the big deal is”.

Did you even watch the news story?

Latoya is doing a wonderful job. Cut her some slack. She’s new to the office and still learning.

Scruffy is being completely honest here when he says that Cantrell is a massive improvement over that chore.

Any city that elects a "Latoya" as its mayor deserves everything it gets thereafter.

New Orleans is getting whiter. The problem is that it's a lot of sjws types moving here.
