Once they take Sievierodonetsk, they have to get through Lysychansk. IF they can encircle Lysychansk, then it's possible. It's also possible they have another Mariupol on their hands.
Before they can do that, they have to secure their right flank and prevent Ukraine from attacking out of the Kharkiv region into their flank. They will have to pull combat power from somewhere to prevent that.

Absolutely. Russia will take the Donbas region and funnel in more troops over the coming months and fully mobilize to destroy and occupy larger portions of the country. Kyiv will fall at some point in 2023/2024.
Russia's shite economy and oligarchs can't handle/won't stand for two more years of this. You have a better chance that the Great Awakening and/or Rapture finally happens.

No not to the level of Ukraine. But we do foot the bill for their military protection, have bases across the continent, and have done so since 1945. They'd be part of Germany or Russia without the United States. They're not an extension of the US State Department like Ukraine is, though.

I'm well aware. Seeing as how I lived in Germany and went to work daily on several of those bases. We have no bases in Ukraine, and they're a puppet, but we have bases in Germany, Netherlands, England, and Poland and they're not puppets?

What about the Baltics? Czechia? Romania? Poland? What's your criteria for who's a CIA/State puppet and who's not?

Mariupol is a unique circumstance with the steel plant having hundreds of Soviet era tunnels that could extend their chance of survival.
It appears that they've drawn back troops out of the Kharkiv region to focus on the Donbas area, similar to what they did earlier in the war with Kyiv. ISW did say they are amassing a large number of troops at the Border near Kharkiv, though, to prevent further Ukraine advancement.

Yea, I think they call that getting your arse kicked.

So you think these Russian troops that will be “funneled” into combat zones will be properly trained and led?
If you’ve served in a combat arms MOS or branched, tell me how Russia will do this?

Not even the Russian military makes as many excuses for the Russian military as stidham does.

So, the massive two pronged pincer movement they launched from Belarus in February was shredded without ever even getting into artillery range of the capitol.
Yet, you think they're going to reform, and try again. But this time the Uke army is waiting with:
Over 100 GPS guided artillery cannons with longer range than the Russian guns
Thousands of switchblade drones that will target the RU columns
More than 10,000 3rd generation ATGMs with now veteran trained crews
18 months to prepare elaborate defensive positions
Time to train and arm 500,000 new volunteer soldiers to defend the capital
Fully integrated western intelligence systems providing real time targeting data
Among other things...
So Russia comes back again with essentially nothing new. No new tanks. No new artillery. No new transport. They have actually been seriously degraded. They never had enough trucks. Now thousands of them are smoking wrecks.
Yet this time it's gonna work?
How?

Not meant to flame, but I keep seeing this come up. All I've seen as backup is some leaked phone calls. What evidence is there that this is the case other than ISW saying it and those phone calls? Honestly curious as in my non-military brain, the fact that Russia is still advancing would be counter to poor moral and discipline.

Do you deny that Ukraine is a state department satellite country? Please tell me you don't buy the bullshite that they're a free democracy.
Most of Eastern Europe is heavily influenced by the United States since the fall of the soviet Union. Just as much of Eastern Europe was a puppet state of the Soviet Union until it fell.

Smells like propaganda to me. They're advancing along their main objective and morale is bad?
How's morale for the Ukrainian's in that area then? Nonexistent?

They have no coordination. They have no mission command. Have you seen the condition of the vehicles that are captured? They send tank columns in with *zero* infantry screening. That's suicide.
You can see all of this on video.
The fact they outnumbered the Ukrainians so much, yet could barely penetrate in the country without bogging down should tell you all you need to know.

guess that's why they're getting pummeled by Russia in the Donbas region.
Pummeled?
Pummeled?

They're pretty clearly methodically advancing on the Ukrainian army in the East. Which is where the bulk of their troops are stationed.
Russia is going to continue pumping out weapons, tanks, and ammunition as the war goes on too.

Yes. I've been there. I've worked with their military.
Can you say the same?

Like I said, you're unhinged. I'd say maybe you're just ignorant, but no....you're just unhinged and a True Believer of all things Russia.

But how is that "proof" of moral and refusing orders because that just seems like piss poor planning/logistical issues? (not arguing with you just trying to understand and IIRC you're prior military so I'm sure you understand the connection much better than I do)

You sure about that boss?
Might want to go read the news. Specifically the stories pointing out that both of Russia's tank factories have shut down due to not enough parts and foreign systems due to the sanctions.
Same thing with their main SAM builder.
