Bulgaria finally coming off the fence about providing Ukraine with military aid after Russia shut off the gas. They will allow Ukrainian equipment to be repaired in country and may soon start sending arms to Ukraine as well.

I've loved this thread since I left the crazy stuff on the PoliBoard. Through the posts here I could see that the Russians were not going to take Kyiv without a hell of a fight. Lately though we're pretty much on to speculation in a dearth of real news. It seems Putin is going to refuse to give up on Ukraine and now he is threatening NATO countries that allow material re-supply. It's seems Moldova is in the cross hairs and there is not much they can do about it. But now the Romanians may be bowing up for a fight. So where is all this going? I'd like to hear some good news that the Russians are stumbling again. I've not heard much of that lately. It continues to be a slog.

Le Pen suggested France was not responsible for the wartime round-up of Jews who were sent to Nazi death camps. With just 13 days until the first round of voting in France's presidential election, her remarks have been met with widespread condemnation.
Her stance is at odds with former president Jacques Chirac and current premier Francois Hollande, who have both apologized for the role played by French police in the rounding up of 13,000 Jews at the Vel d'Hiv cycling track in Paris, ordered by the Nazis in July 1942.
quote:
Le Pen told French broadcaster LCI on Sunday, arguing that the Nazi-collaborationist Vichy regime "was not France."
"I think that generally speaking if there are people responsible, it's those who were in power at the time. It's not France," she added.
quote:
Le Pen later defended her comments in a statement, claiming: "I consider that France and the Republic were in London during the occupation and that the Vichy regime was not France."
"It does not in any way exonerate the personal and personal responsibility of the French who participated in the vile round-up of the Vel d'Hiv and all the atrocities committed during that period," she said.
CNN - I took one for the team to see what this was based on
Seems like quite the overreaction to what she said to me. Do we say Germany did xyz, or do we say NAZI Germany did xyz? What is that fine but what she said not? It’s the same principle.

As I said, hyperbolic bullshite that deflects away from real criticism of her and her party's policies.
Although it's much easier to just call someone a Nazi instead of actually critiquing them on a point by point basis.

Got a message that Russian officers are killing their own boys for insubordination and refusal to fight near Kharkiv. This is ugly ugly business.

It’s been the playbook for a minimum of 6 years now

The sad part is I'd be more surprised if they weren't doing it.

Complete agreement but lipstick on a pig blah blah blah, she’s gone to great lengths to remake Dads party of Vichy level shitbags to make it more palatable to a 2000s audience. But she’s done it with the direct help of the FSB and GRU Gazprom banks In America or Canada she would literally have to register as a foreign lobbyist.

Cents this is complete misery on the Russian military’s part. I’m as shocked at anyone about the RU forces but the self sabotage desertions surrendering and now refusal to fight being met by bullets? I was raised on Cold War rhetoric and took that mindset into my work over the years. It’s like being shown the boogeyman is actually a 85 lbs 12 year old.

It must be really bad. The Soviets blustered about that but didn't do it very often, and rarely at all after the tide turned.

Yes, definitely. Russia is losing in the ballpark of 30 tanks a day recently, but they're still feeding BTG's into Ukraine and up from Mariupal and apparently have about 20 left being refit in Russia after having been in N. Ukraine (not sure how effective they'll be since they're apparently plugging more and more conscripts in). Some are saying they may reach culmination in a few weeks and aren't taking ground fast enough to grab a whole lot of land by then, but I guess we'll see. Meanwhile lots of Western materiel seem to be flowing in.

If you asked me to categorize the RU military in 2022 I’d say they are: Rapists, thieves, war criminals, refuseniks, dimwits, dis motivated unprofessional, paper tigers. Talk about shitting in your helmet and putting it on your head.

Hearing an entire unit (dont know the size) has quit, wont fight.
Look those are some tough, well armed people in Kharkov. I would be in no hurry to fight there. They really dont like the Russians.

I’m hearing hundreds. I’m also hearing fragging as a preemptive move on the part of private Ivan…again I’m shaking my head at this.

Reports of Belarusian women in the hundreds having been raped by Russian soldiers in staging areas by the Ukrainian border…just shitbags. Belarusian mayors and police told to shut up about it.

I agree with you, and didn't think much about the cartoon except that it was sort of funny on face value.
