Crimea didn't have that water to begin with. That's why one of the first things Russia did was blow the dam. I don't know how much leverage that would actually give the Ukranians at this point. I just don't know how much Putin and crew specifically care (right now).
A lot. Water for Crimea was one of the tension spots that triggered the invasion. If Ukraine cut off the water to Crimea again then it would put Russia back in the same spot it was before the war. Putin obviously cares since reopening the North Crimean Canal was a day 1 objective for Russia.

Hating you doesn’t mean I’m a lunatic. I’m a lunatic for many other reasons.

Clearly. Go seek some help

Thankfully Boston has some of the best healthcare facilities in the country.

take advantage of that. You went above and beyond just hating someone
You should be banned for that

That could be a bit tricky, apparently the Russians have kicked up a lot of radioactive particles in the soil of the Red Forest near Chernobyl.

I’m so sorry. You’re the sane one. Please accept my apology.

BBC video on the plight of the Russian 331st Guards Parachute Regiment (long considered a Russian analog for the 82nd). 9 mins in length.

Why Russian troops are using tree branches for camouflage in Ukraine
By Alex Horton
March 30, 2022|Updated March 30, 2022 at 11:52 a.m. EDT
Russian troops in Ukraine have scrambled to avoid detection and attack by using tree branches and straw, even swaths of carpeting, to conceal tanks and other armored vehicles, in what analysts call a surprising lack of sophistication for such an advanced military and further evidence of how ill-prepared some commanders were for the sustained fight that has unfolded.
Camouflage, whether for personnel or equipment, is a fundamental part of warfighting, even as technological advances such as drones, satellite imagery and infrared scopes have made it harder to hide on modern battlefields. It works by distorting shapes and reducing heat signatures, in effect fooling the eye to create doubt and confusion.
Yet to some observers who’ve closely tracked the conflict in Ukraine, Russian forces, despite their military superiority, have exhibited a breathtaking degree of amateurism. They point to videos circulating on social media showing an array of contrivances.
Snip
The Russians’ apparent lack of modern camouflage netting is the latest example in what analysts call a string of tactical missteps since the invasion began late last month, affirming beliefs in the United States and in Europe that President Vladimir Putin and his senior military commanders failed to anticipate the strong resistance their troops have faced.
To the bewilderment of many Western observers, Russian soldiers have shown a tendency to speak on unsecured radios and cellphones, allowing enemy intelligence to intercept their communications. Military planners also have failed to distribute enough fuel and food, prompting troops to abandon vehicles in place and, in some cases, surrender.

Russia will need to escalate with chemical weapons or withdraw soon probably if the equipment losses are even half of what’s being reported. But they’d probably end up gassing their own troops on accident and I doubt many of their guys have any serviceable chemical suits and gas masks.

Which units and equipment are they holding back?
Posted on 4/2/22 at 3:30 pm to TexasForever
At least 9 dead Russians in that last pic… jesus.

I’d guess that given the choice between allowing the necessary monies to flow to military research, development and preparation -or- pocketing an important chunk of those monies……to the pockets of Putin and oligarchs it is.

A BTR is the last vehicle I'd be wanting to roll around in in that type of war.

Russia’s elite VDV units spear headed the push for Kyiv… he’s talking about of his arse.

This is the largest land invasion in Europe since 1945… the idea the Russians would be holding back elite units and equipment is so stupid it makes my brain hurt.
They're not. They've committed the VDV, 2nd Guards Motor Rifles (Taman Division), 4th Guards Tank (Kantemir Division), and the SSO since the invasion. Those are top line formations of the Russian Army and still have been bloodied by the Ukrainians.

On an interesting note, Strongman Oleksii Novikov just went from being in the shite in Ukraine to winning Europe's Strongest Man with very little actual prep. Maybe one of the gutsiest performances in sports I've seen. After placing second back in early March at the Arnold's Strongman Classic he said he was "Going back home to fight." I don't know how much fighting he has done, but he hasn't put anything out on social media since around the time the invasion began.
