Of course they're not ok with it. The point of backchannels is to try to de-escalate as much as possible. Like trying to prevent this from being a NATO vs Russia war.

Turns out it was wast of Kyiv.
Russian forces were in Brovary approximately 20 kms from Kyiv. Ukraine appears to have pushed them back to Malyi Krupil' which is approximatley 90 kms from Kyiv. IF true that is a hell of an accomplishment for Ukraine.
Bump because nobody seems to be talking about Ukraine taking Russian positions east of Kyiv.

Honestly it’s a moderately significant development. It falls in line with reports of a Ukrainian counteroffensive which is encouraging but ground around Kyiv has changed hands so many times the past few weeks I’d like to see something more permanent before I throw a victory party.

Just based on the map.. the Ukrainians defeat the force northwest of Kiev, and Belarus decides not to send their troops, then Kiev can focus on the northeast/east side of defense.
