California has plenty of money. It’s not Ukraine’s fault Los Angeles/CA government allowed widespread urban sprawl where the fire department can’t even access with water. This is a failure of urban planning and corrupt city government not underfunding . Go back to rehab.
It allows housing developments to be built over old oilfields being used for natural gas storage.
BTW, the fire equipment donated to Ukraine in 2022 was surplus ballistic helmets and bullet proof vests already replaced, along with some old hose and nozzles. If you wonder why bullet proof is necessary, that is for fighting fires in the "hood". A former LA County FD was our EMT at Shell in 1991-1993. Police had to secure the scene before FD could respond in the "hood". FD was often shot at responding to fires.

That's good. Biden made the US look weak, and that will have longstanding consequences. Projecting strength is important.
Donald Trump pushes back Ukraine war deadline in sign of support for Kyiv

US president-elect Donald Trump has pushed back his campaign pledge to end the war in Ukraine in “24 hours” to several months, in a shift European partners have interpreted as a sign that his administration will not immediately abandon support for Kyiv.
Two European officials told the Financial Times that discussions with Trump’s incoming team in recent weeks revealed they had not yet decided on how to solve the conflict, and that support to Ukraine would continue after the US president’s inauguration on January 20.

The whole [Trump] team is obsessed with strength and looking strong, so they’re recalibrating the Ukraine approach,” said one of the officials.

You notice how the big Ukraine lackies in this thread never post about anything else? Never see them talking about the Nola attack, North Carolina, literally anything.
Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine.
God damn wake up once and have a thought about the United States.

That’s good. Nobody believed him when he said he’d end it within 24 hours anyway…so there is no real change in approach.

Besides here, I usually post on the Travel board and on Pels Talk. I usually don't waste my time arguing with retards about politics or world events. I started posting in here, because the future of warfare is changing, and I wanted to understand it. That's still the main reason that I follow the Russo-Ukrainian War.
I have lots of thoughts about the United States, but I generally don't throw pearls before swine.

If tweet fails to load, click here. We've seen evidence of this coming for a long time. The Belarusian people and language are getting snuffed out, and the Russian expansionism is why stopping Russia and Ukraine is so important.

In Russia, the Kremlin is reportedly contemplating to annex Belarus "after the end of the war" in Ukraine.
Meh. This really isn't a huge change in policy for them honestly (for either).

The Union State of Russia and Belarus,[b] officially also referred to as simply Union State,[c] is a supranational union consisting of Belarus and Russia, with the stated aim of deepening the relationship between the two states through integration in economic and defence policy.[6][7] Originally, the Union State aimed to create a confederation; however, both countries currently retain their independence.[8]
The Union State is based on a previous international treaty between Russia and Belarus[9] made on 2 April 1997.[10] Although it consists of only Russia and Belarus, other countries are allowed to join.[7] The supranational union is ruled through the Supreme State Council[11] and other governing bodies.[12] As of 2024, the current president of the Supreme State Council of the Union is Alexander Lukashenko, who has held the position since 2000.[13] The present goal of the Union State mainly focuses on economic integration,[14] taxation,[15] and integration of defence and intelligence apparatus.[16]
quote:
The Treaty on the Creation of a Union State of Russia and Belarus was signed on 8 December 1999.[22] The intention was to achieve a federation like the Soviet Union, with a common head of state, legislature, flag, coat of arms, anthem, constitution, army, citizenship and currency. The Union was ratified by the Russian State Duma on 22 December 1999 and the National Assembly of Belarus on 26 January 2000. On the latter date the Treaty and the Union came into effect

Nope, it isn't.
You can't spout that they are essentially a Russian state for years and then turn around and use Russia possibly annexing them as evidence of Russian imperialism, the two kind of contradict each other

A number of fire departments in California donated firefighting supplies to Ukraine.
Oleg Skachko, a Ukrainian American firefighter in Clifton, New Jersey, sought donations of used firefighting gear to send to Ukraine, according to NJ.com.
It quickly grew into a national effort, and fire departments in at least 10 states had sent safety equipment to Ukraine by April 2022, according to Fox News.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said in March 2022 that it would gather and donate surplus equipment and gear to help first responders in Ukraine. Those items included hoses, nozzles, turnouts, helmets, body armor, and other associated personal protective equipment, according to a news release on the department's website.
"As Ukrainian firefighters continue to work under extreme peril to remove victims with limited resources, we felt the need to step up and help in some way," Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby said in a statement.
A number of fire agencies in Santa Barbara County donated safety equipment for firefighters in Ukraine, according to an April 2022 report from local news station KSBY.
The San Francisco Fire Department and other agencies in the Bay Area also donated equipment to aid a retired fire chief's effort to send supplies to Ukraine, according to an August 2022 report from Patch.com.
The San Jose Fire Department announced the donation of safety equipment worth more than $1 million to Ukraine in July 2022, according to a news release from the city. The donation included 373 self-contained breathing apparatus air packs, 600 mask-mounted regulators, 183 air-breathing cylinders and several hundred self-contained breathing apparatus masks to the relief organizations Nova Ukraine and Firefighter Air Ukraine, who would then distribute the equipment to first responders across Ukraine.
"The San Jose Fire Department is extremely grateful to provide this safety equipment to Ukrainian firefighters who are working so hard to save lives and protect their community every day," the department's chief Robert Sapien said in a statement at the time.
California also shipped supplies to Ukraine in 2022, sending at least five, 50-bed field medical stations along with thousands of pieces of protective gear between May and March that year.
"California has stood firm in our support for Ukraine since day one of Russia's unprovoked invasion," Governor Gavin Newsom said in a statement in May that year.
"Our support will save lives and help the people of Ukraine as they experience unspeakable atrocities, and we will continue to support Ukraine's brave fight against tyranny and oppression."

Ukraine's 47th Mechanized Brigade said on Jan. 9 that it had, together with other units, repelled a "massive" Russian assault in the embattled Kursk Oblast, releasing footage of the engagement.
The report came days after Ukraine reportedly launched renewed offensive operations in Kursk Oblast, which is seen as a crucial bargaining chip for potential peace negotiations. Almost 50 Russian ground assaults were repelled in Kursk Oblast over the past day, the General Staff said.
The Russian attack reportedly involved about 50 vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and buggies.
According to the brigade, Russian troops initially tried to demine the approaches to Ukrainian positions and attacked in six waves. Russia deployed "a huge number of soldiers," with Ukrainian forces killing 45 troops and injuring 53, the military claimed.
