Trump has carrots he can offer, ending sanctions, recognizing the new borders, but he doesn’t have a lot of sticks.
Its crazy how you are pretending that the Russians have some insane advantage after a good October when they've turned what was supposed to be a short military operation into a massive geopolitical failure that is nearly entering its 3rd year (despite your insistence that it wasn't going to last until the end of 2023).
If it were some other country other than Russia, you could possibly describe the geopolitical situation honestly, as they are presented with several dilemmas. The Russians don't have the negotiating advantage that you seem to think they have.

To the posters that have been involved in this thread for years and thousands of pages, what outcome do you want for this war?
quote:
What I want vs what I think will happen are two very different things. In my ideal world, Ukraine would regain its original borders, inclusive of Crimea. That won't happen. A settlement that had the lines freeze at current positions, establishing a neutral zone, and security guarantees for Ukraine would be the best Ukraine can hope for now. If Russia won't deal or demands all of the Donbass, then I hope Trump gives Ukraine the weapons it needs with no strings attached.
Pretty much this. Been reading since day 1. Followed the lead up before it all broke out.

ISW Update Nov 7
quote:
Key Takeaways:
Russian President Vladimir Putin is attempting to shape US President-elect Donald Trump's foreign policy and achieve another Russia–US reset on Russia's terms.
A recent failed Russian assault northeast of Siversk near Bilohorivka prompted outrage from some Russian ultranationalist milbloggers over Russian command failures and the pervasive Russian military culture of exaggerating battlefield successes.
A Russian brigade commander and a sniper platoon commander were reported killed in combat recently in the Kurakhove and Chasiv Yar directions.
Ukrainian authorities continue to report systematic Russian executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs), noting a clear increase in such executions in 2024.
Ukrainian strikes on Russia and Western sanctions are reportedly disrupting Russia's energy industry.
Russian forces recently advanced near Siversk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove.
Russian authorities are reportedly creating "fake" non-combat volunteer battalions in occupied Ukraine and merging them with existing Cossack organizations led by occupation administrations.

UPDATE ON UKRAINE
08 November 2024
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Approximately 2000 One Way Attack Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (OWA UAVs) were launched by Russia against Ukraine over the month of October 2024, exceeding September's numbers by approximately 700, and increasing significantly for the third month in a row.
With continuing Russian investment in a range of OWA UAVs, diversification of supply, and expansion of launch-sites, firing rates have been trending consistently upwards since mid-2024.
Through the first week of November Russian firing rates remained high and in-line with recent weeks. With launch sites being reasonably simple and easy to re-establish if targeted, should production remain uninhibited, the primary limiting factor for Russian OWA UAV operations is likely human resource relative to launch capacity. It is likely that the high figures seen through September and October to date will become normal.

Ukrainian drones hit oil refinery in Russia's Saratov, HUR source confirms
by Kateryna Hodunova November 8, 2024 10:57 AM (Updated:
November 8, 2024 12:33 PM)
Ukrainian drones operated by military intelligence (HUR) attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Saratov on Nov. 8, a military intelligence source confirmed to the Kyiv Independent.
Earlier in the day, Saratov Oblast Governor Ruslan Busargin said that a Ukrainian drone targeted the city.
According to Busargin, air defenses downed the drone over the city and debris fell in the industrial area in the Zavodsky district. He did not report any casualties or damage.
The city hosts the Saratov Oil Refinery, formerly known as the Cracking Plant, which is part of Rosneft, the state-run oil company. The refinery is located in the city's Zavodsky District.
The HUR source said drones hit one of the plant's oil refineries and fuel oil tanks, and cited local media reports of multiple explosions.
Saratov is a city in southwestern Russia, located nearly 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) from the border with Ukraine.

Trump was 100% right on this. Look at the stunned faces across the table. LOL. Bet they were never talked to like that from Obama or Bush. Trump is the only one that has been concerned about the US or the US taxpayer being fricked over. One reason that he is hated so by the elite. He has exposed these assholes that have made millions from this type of game. They don't want to lose their paydays. Follow the money on things like the MIC and/or the border and see who makes money off of it. Many are making big money or grifting off of the continuation and suffering of this war. Wouldn't surprise me if one or two in this thread are.
Remember when the Germans laughed at him at the UN? They are not laughing now are they? Many of the German politicians are bought and paid for.
Germany would sell you out for their own selfish benefit in a second. They have welched off of us for years. Don't trust them because you can't. While some n this thread want to continue this scam of defending those "allies" while we are bankrupting this country. It's madness.
Frick that country.

Germany enabled Russia buy subsidizing the EU's push for Green Energy by using cheap natural gas. If the EU had not been buying as much natural gas from Russia as they did, Putin would not have been able to afford to spend the past 15 to 20 years building up his military. He would have never been able to afford annexing Crimea or invading Ukraine. The german PM that went to work for Gazprom after signing the original Nord Stream contract should be hung from the Maiden monument in Ukraine.

You can't trust the Germans. The Austrians are bought and paid for also.
Trump, whom the leftists claim is a Putin stooge killed it. Biden gave it the green light after he went in while killing the Keystone Pipeline in America.

Yes, that's the other thing that we're not talking about enough.
Trump is going to remove a number of regulations on American energy production. The world's leading oil producer is going to produce significantly more oil.
That's not a good thing for the Russia's economy (or Iran's). Removing regulations and driving down the price of oil benefits the American economy while also damaging those of our enemies.
That's obviously not a strategy that Biden/Harris could or would pursue, because that would offend their environmentalist backers.

The EU has already announced they will be buying from the US instead of Russia.

I’ve been saying since the start of the war oil was the real secret weapon to making Russia stop its invasion.
The fact Biden was willing to send billions of dollars in arms, supplies, and just cold hard cash to Ukraine to keep it fighting the war, but refusing to do the one simple thing that would (1) end the war almost immediately (2) cripple Russia for the foreseeable future, perhaps to the point Putin is toppled, and (3) would at the same time have a massively positive impact on the American economy tells me Biden was either an idiot or a puppet of those profiting from the war.
His many hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, cities levels, and lives destroyed all to keep this war going?

Tell that to The Taliban... he "threatened to kill them if they hurt an American" but gave them back Afghanistan... he negotiated returning Afghanistan to the Taliban, not the Afghan government.

Just wanted to update you guys, the war is practically over!
President Trump is sitting everyone involved down and telling them what's what. No more $$ for Zelenskyy and his Globalists cronies. Happy days are here again!

What else can you tell us from the call Trump and Elon just had with Zelensky? Since you were obviously on it, give us the details.
