Ive seen it suggested that he might be looking to set up a puppet government and then take land that would stretch the russian border along the black sea to odessa
I think that makes sense

CNN has actually hit this out of the park. Theyve had good coverage imo

Agree. Sky News has been ahead on the reporting of events by a bit but CNN is doing well. Wide variety of coverage

CNN overnight is about as good as CNN of old. Their daytime and prime time is what’s dogshit.

Again, that may be, but Putin's best, and really only, path to strategic success is to take down Ukraine before the rest of the world can mobilize. At that point, the calculation is whether it's worthwhile to try to reverse a fait accompli. He doesn't have much time. So far, the Ukraine government is still functioning, the power is still on, world opinion is pretty much universal against Putin, heavy sanctions for Russia and probably military aid to Ukraine are on the way.
I was expecting Spetsmaz operations, bombing key centers of government, and airborne assaults to seize airports and other key positions. Maybe the Russians aren't capable of it or maybe they've got something else in mind. We'll see.

When I go to sleep later I’m probably going to have dreams about playing Red Dawn in the woods with my friends growing up.

I usually watch when I'm out of the country and this has the same feel as CNN International

Clarissa Ward is on the ground again. She’s awesome, and after Afghanistan should have been given Fredo’s show. But she’s still in the war zones. Big fan of Clarissa Ward. An actual brave person.

Merkel is out, he's feeling he's got no friends in Europe.
He's already unpalatabley aligned with China.
He's flailing for help. He's worried about NATO. Always has been.

Does this have real teeth? I don’t see Putin’s angle
quote:
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, the European Union’s executive branch, said the bloc condemned Russia’s “barbaric” invasion of Ukraine and the “cynical arguments to justify it.” She added that E.U. leaders meeting on Thursday will present fresh sanctions targeting “strategic sectors” of the Russian economy. Ms. von der Leyen said E.U. sanctions will block “the access to technologies and markets that are key for Russia. We will weaken Russia’s economic base and its capacity to modernize. And in addition we will freeze Russian assets in the E.U. and stop the access of Russian banks to European financial markets.”

The Russian stock market was down 45 percent this morning. Now down “only” 33 percent.

Let’s go Brandon. When Biden allowed 13 marines to be blown to shreds in the awful Afghanistan withdrawal, and no retaliation.. none of these foreign leaders fear us anymore. He is the worst President in modern US history.
