A reason no full scale invasion under Trump was that he personally told Putin he would bomb Moscow if Putin dared to do it. Yes, the US can easily do that without need of any nukes.

Do you know exactly what Trump’s position is?
I do not. He’s been very careful not to box himself in.

I know many believe if elected he won’t aid Ukraine. I know what he said about negotiations with Putin. I know behind the scenes he supposedly helped Johnson pass the aid bill.

Maybe in the debates we will get a more definite answer, but right now Trump is in a good spot.

Meanwhile Biden, who was initially thought to be tough on Russia is looking weaker and weaker. Not letting Ukraine strike back with American munitions inside Russia is not a good look. It brings back memories of Vietnam and prohibits Ukraine from retaliating against Russian forces killing Ukrainian civilians.

And again would he actually do it? Who knows.

Thats why I left it open ended by saying maybe he actually does mean it.

I do know that America First is at least his public tagline, and if he wins he won’t have to make decisions with a second term in mind so there is no reason for him *not* to go all in on America first in a second term.

But he also waffles on things fairly often, so who knows

I can’t say he ever waffled on America first, but I’m guessing someone could scheme up a way that he did.

I would argue that supporting the latest aid bill is an example. But to be fair to him, he’s in election mode and I’m sure internal polling told him the people against aid are voting for him anyway, and the people for it are mixed. So he was trying to win more voters who aren’t sold on him already by supporting the aid package. Or maybe it was genuine and it also just made election sense, who really knows with him

It's called threading the needle. That fact is that real Russians see that he always leaves an out for himself. Let's face it, should the war end, Russia is screwed economically for years. Just look at Gazprom's financial statement, also its lawsuits to obtain the $1.4 billion in insurance money for Nord Stream, where it saved at least double that by the 2 active, but not for almost a month before being blown.

Russia's tactics are terrorist tactics, by any legal or moral definition. I wrote this in July 2022, but after the deliberate targeting of a crowded shopping center and a book warehouse and printing plant in Kharkiv in recent days, it has to be repeated.

Somebody help me understand. With all the evil shite Russia has done to Ukrainian why are they having such a hard time getting their people to fight for their country? You’d think they would at least fight for their right to exist!

You’re not going to get legit answer. Some in this thread will tell you Ukraine has to drag people to the front to get them to fight, others act like Ukraine has over a million willing and able bodies ready to go when called. The truth is somewhere in the middle. There is no incentive for Ukraine (or Russia) to actually tell the truth on their numbers

Someone is fighting because Russia is moving westward at a snail’s pace despite losing thousands of soldiers and bombing the crap out if Ukraine.

Still waiting on your reply to my question about how you claim that Ukraine's negotiating position is getting weaker by the day.

You've admitted that Putin is now offering better terms than two years ago ("proof that he's not the monster you claim").

So how is their position getting worse each day?

Or did you just say that our of frustration? Or ignorance? Or bias?

New footage released from inside Kharkiv mall during Russian attack
May 26, 2024, 09:14 AM

Police have released a video captured inside the Epicenter mall in Kharkiv during a Russian aerial bomb attack on the shopping center on May 25.

The footage, posted by Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Investigation Department of the National Police in Kharkiv Oblast, reveals the harrowing moments just before the attack occurred.

The surveillance camera footage shows six individuals in civilian clothes inside a section of the mall moments before the devastation.

The "Down's soldier" video is a Russian parody. And old.

Well in fairness, SirWinston is parody too.

If you haven’t realized by now, the president can do whatever he wants at any time, for any reason. Watergate would be a nothingburger in this day and age.
