Wow. Sorry, but that is dangerously stupid stuff. You know how much trouble the Ukrainian naval drones have caused Russia? You know how much trouble the Houthi naval drones have caused us? Russia has a slightly more potent version. How Russia’s New Doomsday Torpedo Works. Bluster?
I agree, we should treat Russia with respect and always remember they have nukes and no telling what other horrendous weapons.
But you can’t back off every time they rattle their swords. You have to believe that their leadership won’t use them as I believe our leadership won’t use ours.
That’s why you have to stay strong. You have to stand with your allies. You have to honor your promises to other nations. If you do not you are encouraging Russia and other nations to war.

See, they think that's a bad thing. They rail against the "MIC," because they're on the other side. They are with Russia, China, Iran, and the Norks.
It's mind-blowing how brainwashed some of you boomers are. You literally campaigned for the criminals who started these wars...at the direction of the MIC. You think you would've learned your lesson but here you are salivating at the prospect of adding to the deficit for future generations.
They've got you conditioned like a lap dog. "Funding foreign wars (that have zero impact on American lives) is good! If you don't agree you're a Chicom supporter and un-American durr"

We are not going broke because of defense spending -- that's just as stupid as everything else that you say. In fact, we spend a much smaller percentage of our GDP on defense than we did in the Cold War, or even during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
America is going broke because Medicare and Social Security costs continue to skyrocket. The only solution for addressing our fiscal cliff is to raise the eligibility age for those entitlements, something that both political parties are unwilling to do.
In the meantime, take a look at the number of ships in our navy vs the Chinese navy:
Folks, the people in here like ColtRange are the agents (whether witting or not) of America's enemies. They want a weak United States.

His post was about funding foreign wars. Your point here doesn't make sense as a response.
ETA: To the Ukrainian foreign agent who auto-downvoted my post, please explain how sending money to Ukraine affects the size of the USA navy compared to the Chinese navy.

GOPe_Tiger is an absolute simp. The kind of sucker who still likes George W Bush, still subscribes to the Wall Street Journal, and still listens to the Bulwark podcast featuring Chaim "Bill" Kristol.

Don't do either, but both of them would be far better than getting my news secondhand from Tass and Xinhua.

People downvoted you because you can't read. The post I was responding to was not about foreign wars, but rather about the MIC and total defense spending and the growth of our national debt.

You wouldn't know a fact if it told you it was real.

So, it looks like Navalny somehow didn't win.

The people of Russia have spoken. We pray the people of Ukraine will one day enjoy the right to select their own leader, a Christian leader.

seriously, you easily buy into all of Russia's perceived threats as well as its propaganda, that's your lack of bravery kicking in, not to mention lack of critical thinking skills.
What the heck does anyone in NC have to worry about being targeted? Shades of Mississippi Land Shark dude?

But I'm at our Charleston place right now. There are three Naval Weapons Stations on the U.S. East Coast, Charleston's the largest. Plus Chucktown's our third largest Atlantic port.
I figure I'll need to duck and cover in either place. I'd guess one of those new Poseidon Torpedos could get me in SC though. Whatcha ya think ... here's my view:

You don’t have to worry. The closer you are to a valuable target you are the less chance the Russians have of hitting you.

Reminder to the board that one of the reasons that SirWinston is for Russia is that he's anti-Semite who hates Jews like Zelensky.

Andrei is former Soviet navy and went berserk with this post the other day. He is usually very respectful about the U.S. Navy.

When I say the United States lost the arms race--I mean it. This is not some hyperbole or figure of speech. Virginias are excellent subs but their Block I would be around 40 years old early 2040s. Virginia is a fourth generation sub, but while she still could be improved as a platform, her weapons' suite is not that impressive, however still dangerous. TLAMs are becoming obsolete, and UGM-84 Harpoon is not getting younger too. This suite loses outright to 3M54, P-800 and 3M22 Zircon carried by Yasen-class. But Russia already has a fifth generation sub with fifth generation capabilities--it is Belgorod, the carrier of Poseidon and hell knows what other advanced underwater drones. The work on the fifth generation modular sub has started in Russia long time ago and already in 2017 there was a very interesting news about newest Project 545 Laika (Husky-class) sub:
quote:
Translation: Shipbuilding enterprises are ready to start working on a new boat immediately after the completion of the Yasen series. According to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral Viktor Bursuk, the first Husky will be laid down in 2023-2024. It is planned to complete construction and deliver it to the fleet at the turn of 2030. Even from the fragmentary data that appears in the public domain, it is obvious that the classified project will be revolutionary from a scientific and technical point of view. ... Construction of the fifth-generation nuclear submarines will begin after the delivery of a series of seven Project 885 Yasen multi-purpose submarines, which are planned to be commissioned into the Navy by 2023.
See highlighted? Russian Navy currently has 5 project 885 Yasen-class SSGNs afloat. Arkhangelsk is outfitting at the pier and getting ready for tests. Perm and Ulyanovsk are being built, to be commissioned into the fleet in 2025.This is seven.
Here are some renderings of Laika compared to Yasen-class, many of whose features Laika inherits.
What is known that Laika will use a lot of composite materials in her hull and, highly likely, a new, much longer range, version of 3M22 Zircon and advanced torpedoes and ASW missiles Otvet. What many people miss, however, is that already in both strategic missile subs of pr. 955A Borei and Yasen-class SSGN weapon systems could be used from a much greater depth than it is traditional in most previous subs which was about 50 meter give and take a few. We are talking about revolutionary technology and this is just a glimpse into it. Keep in mind also that Ulyanovsk is being built not really as pr. 885M but as pr. 09853--yes, Poseidon and other drones carrier (in Russian). I warned about it for many years, that Revolution is coming and that it is this proverbial revolver at the temple of globalist sociopaths and the US will increasingly lose, not edge, it doesn't have the edge at all for a long time, the arms race and then technology race to both China and Russia. But I am sure new CNO Lisa Franchetti knows it all, wink, wink.
Hey, I earned myself a minute of having a smug face:
