I have beat this drum over and over again. The border issue should stand by itself. There is no either or. You secure the border to maintain public safety and order no matter what.

This is so obvious it's comical, and infuriating it has to be said at all.

But politicians on both sides have their petty grievances to advance instead of doing what's best for our country.

58% of Americans support economic and military aid to Ukraine.

I tend to agree. Biden isn't choosing Ukraine over the border, at least directly. He's prioritizing Ukraine over the border in the sense that he wants to spend money on the former and isn't motivated to do anything on the latter. But it's not a binary one-over-the-other election.

But I do think there is merit in pointing out that many of our politicians seem more motivated to fund Ukraine's war than do the hard work here. I think that's fair even if it's simplistic.

Ukraine could kick Russia out of its territory including Crimea and force Russia to pay reparations which repaid every single dollar that the USA sent Ukraine and Joe Biden and the dems still would not want to spend a single penny securing the border.

I'd bet that number jumps if you ask: do you support the United States sending weapons to Ukraine.

Another day, another drone attack on a Russian oil refinery. This one is in Ryazan, not to far from Moscow.

A drone hit the cracking tower and set it on fire, which I imagine will put that refinery out of commission for a while.

Any O&G posters left in this thread? How technically advanced are these cracking towers? Does Russia need western components or do yall think they can repair or replace them on their own?

I don't know how this got leaked to twitter but here is the entire phone conversation between Macron and Putin 4 days prior to the invasion. According to Macron it was the separatists who were not negotiating. Macron said Europe was open to Russia's proposals. Macron had spoken to Biden and he was willing to meet with Putin one on one in Geneva and determine the status of NATO and Ukraine to Putin's satisfaction. Europe and the Biden administration were willing give Putin everything he asked for and he still invaded.

I commented about this earlier. The cracking tower should mean the fractionator in a cat cracking unit, and not the cat cracker itself. This is what happened at Shell Norco in the late 1980's. The rest of the refinery likely shutdown but can restart but some units operate at below capacity. Obviously the cat cracker wouldn't

That was likely not an accurate description though.

Russia cannot replace the cat cracker itself or the blower for it. This might give you a clue about its upgrades

2000 - EX-IM Bank awards loans to finance refinery modernization project by ABB Lummus Global and other US companies

So no, Russia can do so decent sketchy repairs and patches but not that kind of work

FTR, the EX-IM bank only provides financing of 80% for goods and services 100% Made in the USA until project completion and US company as borrower is paid after commissioning.

The EX-IM bank makes a profit every year. The EU has similar but 90% while China cover 100%

But but but Johnson pulled the plug on negotiations.

Putin apologists will never believe Putin had options. If doesn’t fit their narrative. It’s all Nuland and Johnson’s fault.

I watched that yesterday and you can almost see Putin smile every time he lies his arse off. And when Macron presses him, his response is "Uh, well, uh, I'm about to go work out. Have the advisory teams hash it out."

Dude is a total clown.

It’s hard to argue that it’s not Putin on the phone. Unless someone speaks fluent French and Russian and can translate it better than the captioning, I don’t see how it can be denied.

Why is this thread on the OT? Shouldn't it be on the Poli Board?

China still uses US and EU engineering.

If the blower is damaged that is not an off the shelf item. It's going to be at least 4,000 horsepower motor which is likely fried by the heat. In fact almost nothing in the unit is off the shelf, everything is engineered for its exact use.

I have a cat cracker unit which might be undersized for sale but it will take a year to take it down properly, a best 6 months while spending way more money and its in the USA. Thus ain't happening unless Putin cries uncle in Ukraine and sucks someone's pecker. I'll let SirWinston have the honors.

It’s not about money to secure the wall. Open border is by design with this administration. If the states decided to built the wall themselves (which Texas tried) they Biden admin fought it.

It has been here for 2+ years. It is supposed to be about military tactics, the combat situation on the ground, etc. The idiots from the Poli Board keep coming in and injecting politics so they can get it moved and anchored.

Scratch another A-50U. Looks like the drone strike at Taganrog caused a fire in the hangar where they work on the A-50s. There were two A-50 aircraft there at the time of the attack, I wonder if they had them both in the same huge hangar. Regardless if they can be repaired, AWACS aircraft are incredibly complex and any maintenance on them takes massive man hours on top of these look to be A-50s they were forced to pull out of retirement because they can’t produce more. Even if they could it would take a long time but a huge portion of the components to the A-50 are from western countries. Russia is in a bad bad way right now and has a lot of blind spots now. Ukraine is winning the battle of the drones and it has officially gone from a nuisance to Russia to a major problem. They have a solid plan in place for an active defense except the defense will be continuing to target anti-aircraft systems and refineries to stretch Russia’s oil driven economy more than it already is while they dump more and more money into replacing the huge losses they have suffered in men and machine. Eventually that bill comes due.

And here is an unbiased poll:

quote:

New poll: Nearly 70% of Americans want talks to end war in Ukraine

The survey suggests Biden administration policy toward Russia is increasingly out of step with public opinion

The American public is sick of this graft and wants it to end.
