It appears that Navalny's death is the final straw for Germany to send Taurus to Ukraine.
It’s about damn time. However, in the German’s defense it would be pointless to supply Ukraine with the Taurus missile before the F16 were in country and ready for combat. The Ukrainians have Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles at present and the number of planes that have been modified to carry western missiles is limited.

Taurus is really the ideal weapon to take out the Kerch Bridge.
Ukraine needs to wait until after it has been restocked with SAMs because Putin will retaliate with a massive missile strike if/when Ukraine destroys the Kerch Straits Bridge.

The discharge petition is a public petition to bring a bill to the House floor. In this case, it would likely be started by Hakeem Jeffries, the Minority Leader. Most Democrats would sign, but the Israel aid in the bill means that most of The Squad will not -- AOC has already said that she will not sign. So, about 10 Republican members would have to sign. The last time the House voted on Ukraine aid, there were over 70 GOP votes in favor, so I can't imagine that 10 will be all that difficult.
My cousin who is as an aid for Steve Scalise said that it could be pushed through in the next few weeks but Biden saying he would negotiate with Johnson might slow it down. Are you hearing any rumors or anything about the time frame that the dems and pro-Ukraine republicans could push it through?
My cousin also said that one of the main reasons why Johnson is hesitant to pass the aid package is because the White House still hasn’t presented a plan for Ukraine to win the war. My cousin said that there was a rumor going on through DC that a republican mentioned supplying Ukraine with some of the recently retired USMC Super Cobra helicopters and twin HUEYs as well as the recently retired Australian F18s and the Biden administration said that they didn’t want to take big of a step until after the election. Granted my cousin was just passing in a rumor circulating about DC, but you seem to have contacts in DC, have you heard that rumor?

This has been a GOP complaint for well over a year and why throw money when no plan to win.

There is a faction that argues this, but it appears to be a distinct minority.
There is an internal debate within the GOP over whether we should be sending significant aid to The Ukes.

I'm a former political director of the LAGOP, but I haven't been active in Louisiana politics at all since 2016. I still have some acquaintances in DC, but not any close friends. I don't stay in touch with them.
What your cousin is saying makes sense, though.
The provision of long-range ATACMS is likely not just a response to the Navalny execution, but also a response to the GOP members of Congress who want Ukraine to win.
EDIT: Well, Mike Johnson used to be a very close friend, but I knew him in the early 2000s, well before he was involved in politics. I was the political pro trying to get him involved, lol. And as I said in another post a while back, Mike and I haven't had a substantive conversation since 2017.

I’m not worried about nukes. I agree with everything you’re saying. I just want us to shite or get off the pot. The people who are making these decisions need to read your post. You win by winning. Russia will only understand force.

Your party has changed since 2016, my friend.
There have been isolationists in both parties for a long time, but with MAGA, they are very close to becoming the predominant faction in the GOP.

A big part of the reason that I am no longer involved. It's been a ongoing detachment for me. The last paid political work that I did was in 2008 for Fred Thompson's campaign, just helping him set up his Baton Rouge fundraising event. In 2012, I resigned from the Republican State Central Committee.
I'm a Reagan conservative, and the GOP increasingly fails to represent my values.

Daily reminder until the national security supplemental is voted on in the house.

It's the indecisive drip, drip, drip that is dragging this war out.

It’s the continued funding that’s dragging it out.

$118,750 each. The price performance range in drone warfare is incredible with Ukraine adapting cheap commercial and hobby drones to deadly force. No doubt the Russians are too.
It's a new day. Hope this one is worth it.

FINALLY! It looks like old man Biden and his administration are just about ready to start handing out contracts to smaller private companies to compensate for the needs to restock our own supplies as well as supply Ukraine, as usual about 18 months late but better than never i suppose. Looks like the first is going to be for solid rocket motors that we use in GMLRS, GLSDB, Javelins, etc from a company in Colorado called Ursa Major. Now if they would just do the same thing with artillery shell production.

Sweden has also put through their 15th and largest aid package yet that includes boats, TOW missiles, artillery shells, grenades, ambulances and more as well as $96 million towards supplying more CV90 IFVs. For a small country military wise compared to others they are truly pulling their weight and more. Now if they could just somehow figure out how to part with a squadron of Gripen fighters……

The crazy thing is that, from a manufacturing standpoint, it's seemingly easier to scale up drone production than production of artillery shells. And drone capabilities are growing daily.
Posted on 2/20/24 at 12:00 pm to GOP_Tiger
It takes lots of infrastructure to produce artillery shells but when there’s money to be made there will always be private companies willing to take a chance and we know Ukraine doesn’t give a shite if the shell comes from the U.S. or from the moon just as long as they get them.

The support package, which is the 15th in a row, will be presented at two press conferences on Tuesday. It is intended to be an important signal to Ukraine, Russia and the rest of the Western world about long-term Swedish support for Ukraine's defense struggle.

Let's just cut to the chase: some of y'all just want Russia to win. It's not about "our money," or disagreeing with Ukraine's strategy, it's just wanting Putin to win.
