“They’re willing to literally kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield and damage our national security in the process,” Biden said.

But even as he lashed Republicans for their stance, Biden stressed that he is willing to “make significant compromises on the border,” if that's what it takes to get the package through Congress.

He basically had a green light for two years to deliver the goods needed and he and his administration have not delivered. Delay, Delay. Delay.

Now he is crying wolf.

He was voted removed and refused to go. That would be like if Nixon had chosen not to resign and instead suffered the removal vote in the senate and then refused to leave office after a 2/3 vote. It wasn't a coups. He wasn't president anymore.

Fun fact about the Polish Mig bullshite at the start of the war, they actually learned that one from us. When a large part of society still was no war at any cost at the beginning of WW2, FDR wanted to help Britain but he knew the public would not take it well so he couldn’t be caught supplying them with munitions. The RAF needed aircraft so FDR bought a guy’s farm and put a runway in the grass to bring the fighters to the Canadian border and then the RCAF came across the border and pulled the aircraft across the border. Basically exactly what Poland did except they went a step further and dismantled their wings to get them in the forest.

This a 30 minute general discussion of all thing Ukraine/Russian war. The general was in intelligence and spent time in Russia. Makes a lot of sense with no crazy predictions.

It is being reported that SecDef Austin told Congress that if they don't approve funding for Ukraine, he will send US Troops.

https://twitter.com/TuckerCarlson/status/1732856685591458056

quote:

The Biden administration is openly threatening Americans over Ukraine. In a classified briefing in the House yesterday, defense secretary Lloyd Austin informed members that if they don’t appropriate more money for Zelensky, “we’ll send your uncles, cousins and sons to fight Russia.” Pay the oligarchs or we’ll kill your kids.

I hope this is out of context. I do not support sending US combat troops to Ukraine.

As I suspected, context is everything

This characterization of Austin’s remarks is 100 percent not true, acc to two sources who were in the briefings. Austin warned that it is not hyperbole to say Putin won’t stop at Ukraine. If he enters NATO territory US troops could be called to fight; cheaper to fund Ukraine now.

Saying “if a nato country is invaded, we have to send troops” isn’t a threat or veiled threat, it’s stating a fact.

FWIW this is from Wikipedia

quote:

Yanukovych argued in favour of economic modernisation, increased spending and, initially, continuing trade negotiations with the European Union (EU). He pledged to remain non-aligned in defence policy. However, his years in power saw what analysts described as democratic backsliding,[7] which included the jailing of Tymoshenko, a decline in press freedom[8] and an increase in cronyism and corruption.[9] In November 2013, Yanukovych made a sudden decision, amidst economic pressure from Russia,[10] to withdraw from signing an association agreement with the EU and instead accept a Russian trade deal and loan bailout. This sparked mass protests against him that ultimately led to his ousting as President.[11][12][13] The civil unrest peaked in February 2014, when almost 100 protesters were killed by police.[14] Yanukovych then signed an agreement with the opposition, but secretly fled the capital later that day. The next day, 22 February, Ukraine's parliament voted to remove him from his position and schedule early elections on the grounds that he had withdrawn from his constitutional duties,[15][16] rather than through following the impeachment process outlined in the Ukrainian constitution. Some of his own party voted for his removal.[17][18][19][20]

On 24 February 2014, the new government issued a warrant for Yanukovych's arrest, accusing him of being responsible for the killing of protestors.[21] Yanukovych went into exile in Russia, claiming to still be the legitimate head of state.[22] On 18 June 2015, Yanukovych was officially deprived of the title of president by parliament.[23] On 24 January 2019, he was sentenced in absentia to a thirteen year prison term for high treason by a Ukrainian court.[24] In various polling conducted since his departure from office, Yanukovych was ranked the least popular president in Ukraine's independent history.[25][26][27][28][29] Yanukovych has also given his name to a collective term for blunders made by Ukrainian politicians: Yanukisms

And this is about the signed agreement

quote:

The Agreement on the Settlement of the Political Crisis in Ukraine was a set of documents signed on 21 February 2014 by the then-President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, and the leaders of Ukraine's parliamentary opposition via the mediation of the European Union and Russia.

The purpose of the Agreement was to reduce bloodshed at Euromaidan demonstrations in Kyiv, which became significantly more violent during the Revolution of Dignity, resulting in the deaths of over 100 people. It also aimed to end the political crisis caused by Euromaidan, which began in November 2013 in response to Ukrainian authorities' decision to suspend the process of signing an association agreement with the European Union.

An agreement to resolve the political crisis was signed by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders Vitali Klitschko (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform), Arseniy Yatsenyuk (All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland") and Oleh Tyahnybok (Svoboda), and formally witnessed by the Foreign Ministers of Germany and Poland, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Radoslaw Sikorski, and the head of the Department for Continental Europe of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eric Fournier. Vladimir Lukin, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation who participated in the discussions, declined to sign the agreement.[1]

The agreement called for a return to the 2004 Constitution, i.e., a parliamentary-presidential style of government, early presidential elections by the end of 2014, and a "government of national trust". It also called for the removal of security troops from downtown Kyiv, a cease of violence, and the surrender of opposition arms.[2]

Although nearly all sides, except Russia, signed the agreement, it was not implemented. Protests continued after its signing, and Yanukovych eventually fled to Russia. With the Euromaidan emerging victorious, an arrest warrant was issued for Yanukovych, who effectively became a fugitive

Frankly I care more about Venezuela and Guyana. If we choose to involve ourselves in regional conflicts, it should be on a continent that shares a land mass.

ISW Update

Key Takeaways:

Russian forces may be suffering losses along the entire front in Ukraine at a rate close to the rate at which Russia is currently generating new forces.

High Russian casualties will likely prevent Russian forces from fully replenishing and reconstituting existing units in Ukraine and forming new operational and strategic reserves if Russian force generation efforts continue at current rates while the Russian military continues operations. Russia does appear able to continue absorbing such losses and making them good with new recruits, however, as long as President Vladimir Putin is willing and able to absorb the domestic consequences.

The US Department of Defense (DoD) announced a new security assistance package and joint weapons production pledge to Ukraine against the backdrop of the International Forum for Defense Industries (DFNC1) in Washington, D.C. on December 6-7.

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed developing Russian-Iranian economic relations with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in Moscow on December 7.

Attacks on public figures in Russia have prompted officials to propose increased security measures for Russian political and public figures and some ultranationalists to call for the resurrection of Soviet security organizations.

The Russian Federation Council adopted a resolution confirming that the upcoming Russian presidential elections will occur on March 17, 2024, amid continued Kremlin efforts to legitimize the elections.

Russian security organs conducted mass arrests targeting high-profile gangs in Moscow and St. Petersburg, including members and co-conspirators within the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) and other internal security organs.

Russian forces continued offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, west and southwest of Donetsk City, and in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area and marginally advanced near Avdiivka.

Russian authorities continue to rebuff appeals from the relatives of mobilized Russian military personnel.

Ukrainian partisans and residents in occupied territories continue to provide Ukrainian officials with targeting information.

Anyone that defends Russia or Putin in even the smallest way should watch this video and then try to explain to me again why this war was anything but his dreams of being known as the modern Peter the Great. It really shows you what war truly is.

Per my sauce(s) in Ukraine they were saying a spring offensive to distract Russia but were really planning a late summer offensive. They were hoping to lure the Russians into false sense of security after a spring or early summer offensive didn’t happen. Unfortunately the Biden administration forced Ukraine to launch the counteroffensive when a small weak spot was found. That is info I hadn't yet heard. Interesting and sad if true. Has any of this been released publically in a news source?

Nope it came from my buddy’s brother who works for Ukrainian intelligence. They want it leaked to the internet so the news makes its way to right ears indirectly. That way the western leaders back off and let Ukraine decide what tactics to use with its war. However, they cannot afford to risk losing military support by openly telling the media. Of course my sauce is in Ukrainian intelligence so it could be smoke to cover their arse but he has generally been right about stuff like that.

On a related basis, given this insensible, manipulative behavior from the US, I am surprised you won't take a second look at the origins of this whole debacle.

I know many people in Ukraine and all say that the Maiden was a homegrown thing. Most Ukrainians were neutral or silent on the issue until Yanukovich turned the secret police from Crimea and Russia on the protesters.
