Sure, but we know the Democrats wouldn’t spend it on the border.

To them “other things” would be climate control, alternative energy, bullet trains, and welfare.

Face it fellas, its over.

Ok, now I know something’s up.

Yes, the war is over (again) and Ukraine has lost, again. I heard similar things before Ukraine retook Kherson and pushed through Kharkiv.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE
17 November 2023

For the first time, Russia has likely started using A-50 MAINSTAY D, its Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft, to identify targets over Ukraine for its SA-21 long-range ground-based air defence missile system. This adds to MAINSTAY's core mission of co-ordinating fighter aircraft.

Compared to SA-21's usual ground-based radar, MAINSTAY can use its radar to spot adversary aircraft at longer ranges because its altitude allows it to see further around the curvature of the earth.

Russia has likely expedited integrating MAINSTAY and SA-21 partially because it is concerned about the prospect of Ukraine deploying Western-provided combat aircraft. There is a realistic possibility that Russia will accept more risk by flying MAINSTAY closer to the front-line in order to effectively carry out its new role.

As I posted when we discussed the WSJ article, Russia has suffered heavy losses on the Dnipro front. These are the totals now claimed by Ukraine in that area:

quote:

??personnel - 1216 killed and 2217 wounded;
??24 tanks;
??89 artillery systems and mortars;
??135 units of various automotive equipment;
??48 units of armored combat vehicles, including armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles;
??9 MLRS;
??14 watercraft;
??15 units of special equipment;
??4 command posts;
??29 ammunition warehouses, both field and stationary.

In addition, the combined electronic warfare unit of the Marine Corps neutralized 135 FPV drones and 5 operational-tactical UAVs.

LINK

Of course, I don't take Ukrainian claims at face value, but I do believe that Ukrainian troops in that area are dishing out more pain than they are suffering.

EDIT: We get these videos all the time, but here's one just released of a Ukrainian drone unit in the Kherson area dropping ordnance onto a Russian TOS-1A MLRS, a BTR, and several howitzers. LINK

You’re pretending the money has to be spent.

It doesn’t.

We should pump the brakes on increasing our national debt to fund other countries problems. Not our problem.

Not one cent should be given or 1 drop of American blood be shed.

frick them. We can worry about that once our house is in order. It is not. Not even close.

No, I am responding to those who protest the spending as if we are taking money away from border security. We are not.

If you want to argue that we shouldn’t be spending the money at all, I can accept that. I wouldn’t agree, but it’s a logical opinion.

Again, money is fungible.

They are suggesting that money would be better spent on things that can benefit Americans.

Americans do not benefit from the federal government giving billions to Ukraine. Americans would benefit if that exact money was used on American infrastructure, in lieu of going to Ukraine.

It'll be interesting to see if attitudes on this change as Europe foots more and more of the bill.

There has been a MASSIVE increase in "WE MUST END THE WAR IMMEDIATELY" from a lot of different angles, and none of it corresponds to what people are seeing on the actual battlefield.

If I didn't know better, I'd almost think something is about to go down... and it ain't a successful Russian offensive.

They are tilting at windmills.
I attacked one specific post. One specific point.

Do you believe that if we didn’t give Ukraine aid that any of that money would be used to lock down our border? Now be honest please.
You know it wouldn’t.

They are attempting to persuade people to their side by telling people Ukraine aid is preventing us from ______________ (fill in the blank).
1) protect the southern border
2) build up our highway system
3) build more hospitals
4) defend ourselves against the Chinese
5) any other item conservatives push

But that is a lie. We are already spending trillions and we are not accomplishing much of any of that. Not because of Ukraine, but because of Biden and the others who are in it for fortune and power.

They're worried that a Ukrainian funding bill that does not include a poison pill will reach the floor of the House.

A large chunk of military aide is mothballed/storage equipment or munitions that were past our use by dates or are cluster munitions we won’t use.

That actually has no fungible value and actually cost money to store or decommission.

Rest of the bulk of the aide was using US military budget to buy weapons from U.S. producers to send to Ukraine. Low cost for IS military to

They are doing their best to paint a doom and gloom picture and an imminent Russian win.

It’s similar to the battle for Bakmuth. Remember that? Once Russia captured Bakmuth they were going to roll East, and thd war would be won.

We are seeing the same thing now. It’s all designed to erode support for Ukraine. A lot of all this is pure propaganda.

Now before one of the Russian savants jump in and say I’m delusional, I AM NOT SAYING UKRAINE IS ON THE VERGE OF WINNING.

Spending bills passed under the Biden Administration vs the $27B in financial assistance they have allocated to Ukraine. Yet Ukraine is the reason for all of our ills.
