The special operation forces of #Ukraine stated that the commander of the #Russian #BlackSeaFleet was eliminated:
"Since the Russian landing ship Minsk was to go on combat duty the day after the attack, the personnel were present. Irrecoverable losses amounted to 62 occupiers.
After the defeat of the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, 34 officers were killed, among them the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov. Another 105 Russians were wounded. The headquarters building cannot be restored".

This is from a prominent Pro Russian account RWA basically explaining why it's totally fine that Russia hit a hotel in Odessa
quote:
The hotel is quite ugly and ruins the view of the port. Good riddance! It has also been standing empty for over a decade, and reportedly served as HQ for what's left of the Ukrainian Navy.
Total eyesore. Locals didn't like it, either. Another victory for militant urbanism.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 25 September 2023
Over the last week, Russian forces have made a concerted effort to conduct local counter attacks against advancing Ukrainian forces in both the Orikhiv and Bakhmut sectors. In both areas, Ukrainian forces have defeated the Russian attacks and maintained their hold on recently liberated territory.
Comments posted by the Russian military community suggest extreme disillusionment amongst those involved in these counter attacks, especially near Bakhmut, with reports of 'ill-conceived' advances, lack of artillery support, and heavy casualties.
During the last nine months, the Russian force in Ukraine has proved itself capable of conducting stalwart defensive operations. However, it continues to display only minimal capability on the offensive. Commanders struggle to orchestrate complex joint effects, to concentrate sufficient artillery ammunition, and to maintain high morale and offensive spirit.

How long until they relocate the rest of their fleet from Sevastopol? Some of their vessels have already been moved...
It's a dilemma. If they relocate they admit that Sevastopol harbor is not defensible. If they don't, odds are more of their expensive vessels are sunk at berth.

How can they tell who was there and who was killed? Serious question.

Either way, disaster for Sevastopol.
Can you imagine anyone thinking this invasion was a good idea for Russia?

The speaker of the Canadian House, Anthony Rota, made an insanely stupid decision to invite someone who had served in the SS to be honored at Zelensky's speech.
Well, that does it. Ukraine is a nazi nation that should be exterminated by the Russians.

They have intelligence. I don't know if it's SIGINT or HUMINT.
The US has consistently shown that we have good SIGINT on Russia.

Good news from Minister @rustem_umerov. Abrams [tanks] have arrived in Ukraine and are preparing to reinforce our brigades. I am grateful to our allies for fulfilling our agreements!

Also the Ukrainian offensive is at best a failure. At worst a disaster.
Everyone said that about Grant's Petersburg campaign and begged Lincoln to replace him. We all know how that turned out. Maybe you should keep your butthurt opinions to yourself until after we see how it turns out.
He is right, and your "everyone" comment about Grant is laughable, the conflict, for all intents and purposes, was over at that point. No sane person wanted Grant replaced, just like no sane person thinks the US should be funding this nonsense, so a few get rich, and many people die on both sides.

Last week a market was hit in Ukraine that killed 17 people. The entire international community was outraged......until they werent... when it was discovered it was a ukranian strike.
The only question remaining, was it an errant missile, or one purposely fired to gain favor with blinken who was visiting?
zelensky has led thousands to their deaths so he can continue to fill his pockets with US funds, whats a couple of civilians eh?
Until congress stops this funding the slaughter will continue on both sides.

weird thing to be doing when the UA counteroffensive is failing

If the US and the West quit funding Ukraine, Russia would conquer the Ukraine, but it wouldn’t be over night. The slaughter would continue, and eventually another nation would be subjugated in true Russian fashion.
I know that’s what you advocate, but that’s not what we promised the Ukrainians when they gave up their nukes. That’s not what the Russians promised either.
I do not feel that abandoning Ukraine is an option. It makes us look weak and it erodes the confidence others have in us to live up to our promises.

How did you become so twisted and perverted that you decided it would be good to allow Putin to forcibly reconstitute the USSR?

They are going to need pristine runways, protected shelters from drone and missile attacks as well as an extremely robust air defense ring around these airfields because they won’t be able to keep the charade up of moving aircraft around so the Russians can’t focus in on one airbase to hit.
Any possibilty of maintenance facilities being established in Poland?
Petraeus suggested highways cleaned with street sweepers as a solution.

Wow, that's amazing. Can you provide a link to this incredible, almost unbelievable, story?
I'll wait.

Yes - we should just appease Putin. He promises to stop and appeasement has worked so well in the past!
