Russia’s next? Ukraine’s? Or both?
It must be really embarrassing to Russia to have tried and failed so many times; while by now most thought Ukraine would be toast.

Ukraine's counteroffensive to take back Crimea and the Belgorod oblast in Russia. Historically Belgorod was considered to be Ukrainian territory.

Please describe in detail how anything I said is bullshite. Have the Poles not gotten screwed by both Stalin and Hitler in WW2 with millions murdered? Have they not ordered hundreds of self propelled artillery, MLRS, aircraft and tanks to replace their outdated soviet equipment? So please do tell me how what I said is horseshite? Does it hurt your feelings knowing Poland can make Putin and Russia their bitch if they chose to Ivan?
No, you are avoiding actual facts, like the one where Poland has an entire GDP of 680 billion and spends around 17 billion on its military, even if they increase it 10X they still will not field what you described.
Now you can come up with whatever histrionics you want or call me whatever you like but the actual facts do not change no matter how much you, I, or anyone else wishes it so.
Poland will become a better equipped regional power but they would have to spend a couple hundred billion to have a seat at the big boys table.

Fact: Russia has underperformed relative to its/ everyone’s pre invasion expectations.
Fact: Ukraine has outperformed relative to pre invasion expectations.
By all means present your counter arguments.

Agreed. But Ukraine has underperformed in its counteroffensive. I suspect there will be some sort of peace treaty by this time next year and the lines won’t change much from where they are now.

I agree with all that. I think Ukraine can still make progress in the Kherson front but for the most part any gains either side are realizing are pretty marginal. The question is where and how some sort of DMZ will be set up.

If DMZ is set up, how “hot” will it be? Who will enforce it? How long will it be before Russia decides no DMZ and attacks once again?

but it will disrupt the pecking order in continental Europe.
If the US actually pulls out of NATO under a conservative administration (doubtful) it would be pretty funny to watch Poland swing their kielbasa dong all over Europe.

Poland simply does not have the GDP to field what you describe, or does your fantasy involve the US paying for it?
The context would be important. Of course Poland doesn’t have the GDP to reproduce the American military in terms of breadth. But they don’t want to. They want the most competent and equipped military for their interests, which is the personal security of their borders and air space. They can do that on par with the best militaries in the world.

By 2030, Poland will have an army that consists of > 1,000 western MBTs, 200,000 standing troops plus reserves which put it over 1,000,000. The Polish Air Force will have 100+ western 4.5 and 5th generation fighters and western attack helicopters. It will be the strongest land force on the European continent.

I disagree.. I think Ukraine has performed about as expected given the lack of air superiority and the defensive posture of the Russians ..

Well you’re pretty the only one. Most people were expecting much more, especially after their success last year in the Kharkiv region. Their gains have been marginal at best.

Your regular reminder that Chuck consistently posts trash. This is not true.
The reason that it is not true is that Russia would quickly destroy any pontoon with artillery right now. Before they set up a pontoon, Ukraine would need to greatly expand their bridgehead. Even after that. Russia could still hit the pontoon using aviation and/or rockets/drones, but they might be able to set it up just after dark and get equipment across before daylight. But that's not going to happen with Russian artillery just a few kilometers away.

Oh yeah I get what you are saying... but the success of Kharkiv was before Russia dug in...

Absolutely. The ppl saying that Ukraine has underperformed must have had unrealistic expectations going into. This counteroffensive was never going to be a Desert Storm style battle.

Yes and no. Fair points but I think UA made some bad strategic decisions with respect to how they focused equipment and men.

I did and still do expect this to go on a long time, our MIC must be fed and it is not in Putin's interest to see it stop, a stalemate satisfies the powers that be on oth sides.

How can you honestly want a midget little troll like Putin to succeed in running over another country and destroying it to rubble? Does that make you happy? If so you should go join up for Russia, they are taking anyone with a heartbeat.
