I believe this is where the HQis located for the Russian MoD’s war in Ukraine
Yes, that's a better way to put it. Wagner can't get to Moscow without ammo, logistics, etc. It always depended on the MoD for a lot of that stuff. But taking Rostov would give it the tools it needs.

I keep envisioning Napoleon's march after reaching France from Elba and troops sent to stop him, joining and swelling his army

What are the rough numbers Wagner is operating with? Any way to know really?

Kamil Galeev says this will fail but it will further destabilize Putin and set the stage for a more serious coup attempt in a few months.
Yeah, everyone knows that Putin isn't OK, somehow. Just a week ago, he met with a bunch of milbloggers, and we found out afterwards that they all had to be in quarantine for a week before the meeting. That's just not normal, and it reinforces the narratives that Putin has cancer or something serious.

I’m not sure how people who consider themselves conservative can go full blown tankie with this conflict.
How silly. This thread is filled with intelligent people - many who pat themselves on the back for being among the intelligencia - just taking these cartoonish fan sports positions.
First, it's a pejorative not even relevant to the conflict. Next, it relies on some bizarre idea that conservatives are required to be sworn enemies of modern Russia (without any real ideological basis for that). Lastly, it seeks to label those urging caution based on America's long history of meddling policy blunders and unintended consequences as somehow supporting Russia.

Priggy should have timed this for June 22. Would have been historic.

Here's his tweet:

It is also likely to fail. Not because there is few of them, but rather because they are far away
Russia is a hypercentralised country. Control over Moscow is the only thing that matters. And it is unlikely these fellows will be able to reach it, let alone occupy it
Girkin reminded us that, after the Russian Volunteer Corps incursion into Belgorod Oblast, Prigozhin volunteered his troops to go there and help protect the region, but it ended up being the Kadryovites instead.
If Wagner were in Belgorod instead of near Rostov, they would be much closer to Moscow.

Yes, very distressed about swimming upstream against the lockstep groupthink in this thread

For some reason my bullshite meter is pegged out. All the videos I've are suspect at best. Guess we'll have to wait and see
I agree that the news is sketchy right now. But there is something going on that is unique. We will likely have more stable assessments tomorrow.

The Governor of the #Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov urged residents to stop traveling to the south:
"Following the meeting of the operational headquarters, a decision was made to strengthen security measures in the region. Particular attention will be paid to critical infrastructure facilities. In addition, residents of the region are now advised to stop traveling to the south, in particular, to the Voronezh region. Friends, recent events have excited us all. But I ask everyone to remain calm and trust information only from official sources."

Nah, conservatism has always meant supporting freedom and opposing murderous, genocidal dictators who try to conquer other nations.
The fact that you are ignorant of that fact doesn't change it.
