Probably just as much to keep the Chechens in line from raping and pillaging Russians

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 23 June 2023
Since summer 2022, the Russian Navy has invested in major enhancements to the security of the Black Sea Fleet's main base at Sevastopol.
This includes at least four layers of nets and booms across the harbour entrance. In recent weeks, these defences have highly likely also been augmented by an increased number of trained marine mammals.
Imagery shows a near doubling of floating mammal pens in the harbour which highly likely contain bottle-nosed dolphins. In Arctic waters, the navy also uses Beluga whales and seals. Russia has trained animals for a range of missions, but the ones housed in Sevastopol harbour are highly likely intended to counter enemy divers.

Air Force: Ukraine downs 13 cruise missiles, 1 drone overnight
by Martin Fornusek June 23, 2023 9:21 AM
Ukrainian forces shot down all 13 cruise missiles and one reconnaissance drone launched by Russia overnight, the Air Force reported on June 23.
Four TU-95 bombers fired 13 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea against a military airfield in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. All of them were destroyed by Ukraine's air defense, mostly over the targeted oblast, according to the Air Force.
Based on the reports by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, the air attack took place between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. local time.
The military also eliminated one reconnaissance drone of an unspecified type, the Air Force said.

"Ukraine has not bombed Donetsk for 8 years, only Russian positions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine were not going to attack Russia with NATO soldiers, the Russian Ministry of Defense is deceiving the public and the president."
EDIT: @wartranslated, with another segment of Prigozhin's newest 30-minute video: LINK
quote:
"Right now, the MOD is trying to deceive the society and the president and tell a story that there was insane aggression from the Ukrainian side and they were going to attack us, together with the whole NATO bloc.
Thus, the so-called SMO was started on 24 February for completely different reasons.
More: LINK
quote:
In continuation of his interview, Prigozhin lists two reasons for the start of the SMO: a) personal ambitions of Shoygu and b) the desire of Russia's ruling clan, who were not satisfied with the Donbas, to appoint Medvedchuk as the president of Ukraine and divide its assets between each other for plundering. According to Prigozhin, denazification and demilitarisation make no sense since Azov wouldn't be exchanged for Medvedchuk otherwise.

Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb Won't Make Ukraine Combat Debut Till Fall
Howard Altman
Thu, June 22, 2023 at 8:04 PM CDT
Recent long-range attacks made by Ukraine - like the one today on the Chongar Bridge in Crimea - have spurred speculation as to what weapons are being employed. One of those that has been promised but has still not been confirmed as operational is the U.S.-donated Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), although there certainly has been rumors and claims about its use.
But a top Pentagon official on Thursday testified before Congress that those weapons won’t come online until this Fall. She also said while controversial cluster munitions would “be useful” to Ukraine, the U.S. has no immediate plans to provide them for a host of reasons.
link has ATACMS related testimony...

@EuromaidanPress
There have been two hits in occupied Henichesk, Kherson Oblast, next to Crimea's administrative border
Unofficial reports suggest hits on a Russian headquarters, however, this hasn't been confirmed so far

sounds like Putin is setting the stage for the MoD to take the fall should it need to happed. Prigozhin doesn't say anything that Putin hasn't "Approved"
the narrative here lately has been that the MoD has been corrupt, has miss managed the war, and has given Putin false information. This is his out..... if needed.....

I think, at this point, there is abundant evidence for this conclusion from @NOELReports:
quote:
If one thing has become clear, it is that Russian air defense cannot seem to do anything against Storm Shadow missiles. Any target that Ukraine chooses, will get hit. Meanwhile the Russian 'wunderwaffe' Kinzhal is being shot down by Patriot PAC-3 missiles. How tables have turned.

There's a video floating around the past couple days put out by Russian channels that purports to show them shooting down a Storm Shadow. It's hilarious because it's a view of screens from inside a Pantsir AD system and it shows one screen that looks like some sort of radar and then pans over to a videos screen that's tracking the projectile and it flies directly over the Pantsir, they shoot at it, and you can see as the camera is tracking it overshoots the SS missile and has to back track and all you see is the aftermath of a huge explosion on the ground.
Lol they missed the damn thing and put out a video saying they shot it down.
Here's a Ukrainian channel that claims it was the missile that hit the bridge, but I don't think it is so disregard the second video in the link as it's already been posted.

On the PT they are calling his statements Propaganda. Since when did Prigozhin become a Ukrainian propagandist?
