Apparently other bridges were targeted as well

The Chongar Bridge alongside several other Bridges in Southeastern Ukraine which link the Crimean Peninsula to the Ukrainian-Mainland were reportedly Damaged last night by Missile Attacks, with the Chongar Bridge specifically appearing to suffer a Strike from a Ukrainian “Storm Shadow” Cruise Missile.

They can run small tankers to Melitopol and Berdyansk easy as pie.

I mean, they certainly could. But I think that Ukraine would hit them. A tanker at Melitopol would be in easy HIMARS range, so I really question if that's what is actually happening.

Finland joining NATO is a huge blow. Russia has a strategic submarine port part of their triad not too far away.

Finland being part of NATO now is being very much overloooked.

Finland's foreign policy in regards to Russia currently:

In the area north of Mar'inka, the AFU has made progress. Russia's defensive line was penetrated by more than 1 kilometer. Defensive lines held by Russian troops since 2014 were recently taken over, creating a bigger buffer zone. Will map this later.

Interesting. I think that this is the second time now that Russia has lost some territory that it had held since 2014, though the first instance was only a small forest strip near Niu York.

Here's a fragment of a missile which clearly indicates its manufacture by MBDA Missile Systems. It was Storm Shadow.

And, while one of the holes appeared small and round like the GMLRS holes we saw in Antinovsky Bridge, this hole is not. Much bigger.

Didn't see it posted in here anywhere else, so sorry if this is a repost, but I saw some footage of the incoming and detonation, and it was pretty damn big. That first picture that Russia put out was purposefully cropped to minimize the damage.

If anyone knows how to quickly turn that into a gif so people don't have to actually go to reddit, feel free. I don't know how on my phone.

They would dock, offload and be gone in 12 hrs. I doubt that they would use ISO tank containers ready to roll on a container chassis. They still don't use pallets for ammo

Edit: Example of tinker toy tankers hauling refined products in the Black Sea trade. 12 hours to offload may be grossly over calculated. This is only about 20,000 BBLS.

Cluster munitions would be useful for Ukraine, Pentagon says
By Idrees Ali
June 22, 20232:19 PM CDT

WASHINGTON, June 22 (Reuters) - The United States military believes that cluster munitions would be useful for Ukraine in pushing back against Russian forces, a senior Pentagon official said on Thursday, but they had not been approved for Kyiv yet because of congressional restrictions and concerns from allies.

Kyiv has urged members of Congress to press President Joe Biden's administration to approve sending Dual-Purpose Conventional Improved Munitions (DPICM).

We have tons on cluster munitions that booms schedule to be destroyed. What better use of tax payer money to let someone else “destroy” the munitions….

They generally are, but Russia has used them, allegedly including on civilian targets. That kind of opens the door for Russian military targets to be fair game in return.

Neither Russia nor the USA signed the treaty banning them. Russia has been using them for over a year. Obama EO scheduled the cluster munitions in storage for destruction beginning this year. It costs real money to destroy them

Big queues at the Perekop checkpoint on the border of Crimea and Kherson oblast after the missile strike on the Chonhar bridge. The waiting time is one and a half hours.

Russian logistics are in big trouble.

Per Twitter, 70% of Russian supplies to the Kherson and Zap oblasts crossed that bridge prior to the missile strike.

Ukraine has been trying to breakthrough and take Robotyne since the beginning stages of the offensive but hasn’t been able to break through. The source for the report is RVvoenkory

Military supplies will have priority. Russians don't give a crap about civilian supplies.

That bridge will have weight restrictions on it until it can be repaired. It likely won’t be able to be fully repaired without taking it completely out of service. Russia will have to build a temporary bridge which probably won’t have the capacity of the original bridge. Russia’s logistical system will have even more problems now.

Rail on land can be repaired easily in a day. It does disrupt but if there is one thing that Russia has is repair crews for rail.

While true rail is far easier to disable, no detours on a rail line, they have to protect every single inch of it and any damage shuts the whole thing down.

Ukraine can shut down the railways and keep them shut down whenever that become a priority which I suspect will be just after the roads/bridges they choose to disable are made thus.

Is there a key that tells what the differences in the colored lines are? I think I can gather that the yellow are highways or main roads. But do you know the significance of the red, orange and purple lines are? I guess theyre Russian fortified lines, but do the different colors signify more heavily fortified and/or more defenses committed in the areas of say the purple lines?

Maybe it's a stupid question but I would appreciate any help in explaining it to me.

ISW Update

quote:

Key Takeaways

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations in at least three sectors of the front and reportedly made gains on June 22.

Senior Kremlin officials continue to publicly address the Ukrainian counteroffensive in a cohesive manner and acknowledge Ukrainian forces will conduct further operations, while continuing to inflate Russian successes.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) will form a “reserve army” by the end of June, form a new army corps, and reinforce key Western Military District (WMD) formations as part of intended force restructuring.

The Russian MoD is unlikely to fully formalize Russian volunteer formations by its stated July 1 deadline.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukrainian intelligence indicates that Russian forces are preparing to conduct a possible sabotage attack at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). A Russian-created radiological incident at the ZNPP remains unlikely but not impossible.

Ukrainian forces may be intensifying efforts to strike Russian ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in southern Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged that Western partners have different expectations for Ukraine’s counteroffensive and stated that Ukrainian forces will perform operations as Ukraine sees fit independent of pressure from another country.

Russian and Ukrainian forces continued ground attacks near the Kupyansk-Svatove line.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations near Kreminna.

Russian forces conducted limited ground attacks near Bakhmut.

Russian and Ukrainian forces conducted limited ground attacks along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line.

Ukrainian and Russian forces continued offensive operations on the administrative border between Donetsk and Zaporizhia oblasts.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations in western Zaporizhia Oblast.

Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces are transferring GRU Spetsnaz units to Kursk and Bryansk oblasts to fight Russian partisans.

Russian sources claimed that the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested a group of saboteurs in occupied Melitopol that allegedly planned the assassination of unnamed Zaporizhia Oblast occupation officials and sabotage against railroads.

By most everyone except Brazil, China, Egypt, Greece, Iran, Israel, India, North Korea, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, and Turkey.

I gotta say out of all the stuff I saw blow up they are one of the most impressive pieces of munitions I saw. Entire football fields just getting peppered one after another.
