Fellow Ukraine and NAFO sisters, how in the frick does Russia still have tanks and helicopters? I just looked at the latest Kyiv Independent numbers and we have destroyed over 5,000 Russian tanks and all of their Alligator heli's, yet they're still attacking our Wunderwaffe with them. Like WTF is going on? And now they're going on there on counteroffyiiv? How is this possible?? And NOW the Ukrainian counter offensyiiv is being temporally paused to evaluate tactics?

Look at the damage that Storm Shadow did to the Russian ammo depot at Rykove yesterday.

Is it just me or does this feels so right? 40 years later hitting the targets they were made for.

At the end of May Forbes had the losses at 2001 so I believe your information about 5000 tanks destroyed is wrong.

I saw that late last night but didn't put 2 and 2 together till this morning (it was really late).

I find it very interesting that the below story was being amplified last week among the Pro-Russian disinfo crowd and we now have this story being put out this week by the Russian MoD:

Sgt Onistrat says this weighs heavily on him. "The severity of the day depends solely on one thing - the number of people we lose. The last week has been extremely difficult. We have lost a large number of people."

On his head he wears a ballistic helmet, a size too small. I mention it and he starts to weep. "It was my son's," he says.

Ostap Onistrat, 21, was killed in a drone strike not far from where we speak, a couple of days before the counter-offensive began. He'd been in the army a year.

His father is still in the throes of grief. "A kamikaze drone flew to them and in fact hit him directly. It was impossible to recognise him. He was buried in a closed coffin," Sgt Onistrat says.

How does he go on, I ask. "I made a commitment. You know, we're here to win. Not to sit back, not to escape. I just think that every person here must do their job professionally. There is nothing heroic in it. I just have to finish this job."

When I ask if he's looking for revenge, he replies firmly: "Revenge is a sin.

"My task is to bring this story to an end. I want to take part in the victory parade. I want us to win, and I want to lose fewer people."

If I was in his position I would struggle to find the temperance he displays, it's for folks like these that Ukraine needs to win.

Budanov Responds to Reports He’s Dead – ‘A Squad of Immortal Commanders is Being Created’

In an exclusive comment to Kyiv Post, Major General Kyrylo Budanov mocked Russian propaganda attempts to convince people he was dead, in a coma or simply AI-generated.

The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence has responded to reports he is dead and videos featuring his image are AI-generated with a tongue-in-cheek response claiming a “squad of immortal commanders” is being created to haunt the dreams of Russian citizens.

Reports that Major General Kyrylo Budanov was killed or seriously injured have been circulating for weeks on social media ever since a Russian missile strike on Kyiv on May 29.

Budanov was executed in GITMO along with Macron and Trudeau.

Wolbachia also have a symbiotic relationship with heartworms, living inside their gut. One of the treatment protocols includes giving the dog a round of antibiotics, weakening the heartworms and making them more susceptible to the drug that kills them.

One thing is hard to argue, the effectiveness of strategic attacks has gone down significantly. There was a time blackouts in large regions across much of Ukraine was a nightly issue. At this point, I have seen little to indicate the interception rate is not high, probably not as high as Ukraine is reporting but unless they are hitting watermelon and sunflower fields there is little to indicate Russia is getting a lot of drones through.

Looks like a cell phone video of the targeting screen. I couldn't see what the target was, but evidently they could. TOW-2 is 1970's tech, but still quite deadly. Thousands of them produced and in service or stockpile.

Ukraine received a total of 45 Soviet-era fighter jets from its Western partners.

Likely true as former Soviet satellite states are shedding their old Soviet equipment in exchange for Western Arms. Poland is said to want to order 500 HIMARS for example and move on over to F16's, F22's and F35's.

This is a really good observation. When it simply stops happening it's easy to forget that it ever happened. And it happened almost daily for quite a while.

Related, from @NOELReports:

quote:

Macron confirmed for the first time that the SAMP/T air defense system is operational in Ukraine.

"I am happy to announce that the Franco-Italian SAMP/T is now deployed and operational in Ukraine, where it protects key infrastructure and lives."

Someone help me out, but isn't that SAMP/T system the 3rd best one that Ukraine has now, after the two Patriot systems?

A few things from today.

Article on how Russia is circumventing sanctions, this one revolves around Western manufactured arms and ammunition - It's quite long so I suggest going to read it.

https://www.politico.eu/article/how-us-made-sniper-ammunition-russia-rifles-weapon-ukraine-war/

Thread by a new account I stumbled across looking at cyber warfare attacks within Russia. The first thread is a summation of the second threads examples.

Account is well established and from their history seems to focus significantly on this cyber attacks, especially on Russia.

https://twitter.com/shakirov2036/status/1670881755614572577

quote:

Recently, a Western colleague raised a question, with some skepticism: "Are there really any significant cyber incidents in Russia? Not defacements or websites taken down for a day or two"

It's hard to overstate how different the situation has been since the start of the war

I wouldn't say that nothing was happening before, but as far as publicly known incidents are concerned they weren't plenty

Now, almost every other day there's a data breach or some kind of attack that would have deserved nation-wide coverage before; now everyone got used to them

Thread offering an assessment of Russian morale and how it will not likely collapse in the near term along the Southern front.

Another new find, they are affiliated with the RAND Corporation, so take that as you will. Thread is quite long so I won't quote the whole thing.

https://twitter.com/MassDara/status/1669811749602701315

quote:

I write often on Russian military personnel problems because I think it's a central issue. I will be the first to tell you that their military morale is poor in Ukraine. I still would not recommend any plan that rests on 'bad Russian morale will trigger a collapse in the front'/1

quote:

In my view the Russian troops that are the most exhausted and maltreated are the ones in Luhansk and Donetsk, who fought a failed offensive since January, were subordinated (legally) to Luhansk/Donetsk proxies, or allegedly to mercenary groups, according to some families. /3

quote:

I observe a focus in Russian units in the last week in the south, IVO Zaporizhzhia (at least on social media), that I have not seen in a while. Their positions are prepared. I see nerves, but not panic. Probably because the UAF have not closed on them so it may be temporary. /6

quote:

Better UAF tactics, better ISR, better local commanders will be to UAF's advantage when they close on Russian positions. Ukrainian commanders remain focused on their operational tasks and I haven't seen many making assumptions about Russian forces cracking on contact. /end

The reports that Russia may be attempting to open up the front to the north with their own offensive are growing, though there has been little visual confirmation yet.
