This offensive is, what, 50 hours in? No one has a clue what’s actually going on or where the push will actually be focused. As I recall, the offensive in Kherson took about six weeks to produce the dramatic breakthrough that we saw in 2022. This is the very beginning. Not only is the result not determined, the critical battles have not begun. The Russian propaganda, declaring immediate victory, is a show of insecurity.

Zelenskyy: “I talk every day with our commanders, Syrsky, Tarnavsky, Naev, Zaluzhny. Everyone is now in a positive mood. So pass it on to putin.

Counteroffensive defensive actions are taking place in Ukraine. I will not say in detail.

Looking at a map that's north of Kherson. Just curious if there is something important troops being there since it's in Ukrainkan held territory

Kherson wasn’t as much of an offensive as it was a siege. The Ukrainians just made it untenable for the Russians to stay there with constant HIMARS strikes on command posts and ammo dumps. The Russians could have either stayed and thrown rocks at the Ukrainians or retreated across the river.

I found this comment but I’m not sure

“There are a number of settlements called Blahodante, the one you want is 47.79466786574518, 36.79338204777198.”

More advancement than Russia has made in over a year. Looks like the counter offensive is going fine so far.

Video I haven't seen before showing a ukrainian assault across open ground being led by MRAPS. At one point you see an AMX10 hauling arse across the open space.

Several videos at link in the second post of the thread

Video from a Russian channel of the assault on Novodonetsk from Tuesday by Ukraine’s 37th Marine Brigade with M-ATV, Mastiff MRAPs, AMX-10RC, and a Ukrainian M-8/17 helicopter. Russian forces were reportedly from the 37th and 5th MRB, Kaskad, and 40th NIB.

Other videos from this battle were posted over the past few days, including a Mastiff MRAP hitting a mine. Footage from the vehicle shows minimal internal damage, which suggests the crew survived. 2/

ETA: The minefields are the biggest challenge for Ukraine's offensive.

The tankers on here would probably also tell you that they worked with air cover. Ukraine just doesn’t have that unfortunately so I’m not sure how the western instructors taught these armored units in combined arms without arguably the most vital part of combined arms maneuvering. Seems like fighting with one arm tied behind your back. But the video of the Bradley platoon and the Leopard tank getting blown up is just flat out bad discipline by that unit’s commander. They never should have been packed together like that. Yes you have to follow the mine clearer but you can still do that with proper separation. That should have never happened. But if that is the worst thing we see I think the Ukrainians would call that a resounding success. Ukraine is a pretty tech savvy country. If I were them I would be putting all my resources toward drone capability both recon and strike as well as how to block the other sides drones.

You can pretty much assume equipment being “abandoned” in a loss reports means it hit a mine and the tracks got blown off

The Finnish OSINT guys mapped and released the entire Russian trench defensive system.
