However, the Federalist article mentioned Trump once ... as "uncharted waters."

It almost certainly is a dispositive example of the type of conservatives who do have the authoritarian impulse.

quote:

To me, Trump's policies seemed much more adopted to personal freedoms, and achievement than to any autocracy. That's why I asked the question re: Trump.

Like which policies specifically? Trump definitely did good things, but I think US Presidents are fairly limited in what they can accomplish. The things they can get done are usually things that would get done regardless of who is president, and usually those things are limited to matters of national security. The things Biden has done that I regard as good, such as CHIPS act, as direct government investment into semiconductor manufacturing was necessary for national security and would have been done regardless of who the president was. I'd argue the other major accomplishment of Biden's was the new rules released on October 7th from the Commerce Department which effectively cut off microchip supply to China. LINK

Here's an article describing the effects on China. LINK

I hope any new administration continues semiconductor manufacturing investment as well as continues to make it difficult for China to take advantage of Western technology.

I don’t know the exact amount that has been authorized or spent. That is why I just say it’s less than 100 billion USD.

I believe we authorized 40B but spent less to date. I could be wrong though.

Very possible. I just say less than 100 billion USD to keep it simple.

Drone sitting and watching a Russian use the "Stupor" anti-drone gun, it works about as well as the rest of the Russian equipment so the drone drops a grenade.

Damn y'all... I took some really concerning video today on the st johns river. 100% we're doing training missions to practice giving Russian pilots the finger

Before someone takes credit for October escalation, it's just the blue angels in town practicing. Apparently not a bad day for a barge ride across town, right by the navy base.

The UK government is not dependent on Liz Truss. She goes, the government carries on in an orderly fashion. What kind of orderly transition will Russia have when Putin goes?

Wow only now am I seeing the reports of Yougaine terror regime shelling civilian ferry carrying evacuating civilians across the river in Xerson. This is a new low even for them.

Many of these radicals are calling Reagan a failed conservative and his policies failed conservatism.

The United States went from the world's largest creditor to the world's largest debtor during Reagan's 2 terms. His administration also drafted the terms of NAFTA and enacted Executive Order 12333, which essentially authorizes the Five Eyes security agencies spying on and collecting personal data on American citizens without a warrant. His administration was an abject failure and Republican attempts to portray him as some sort of limited government icon are abject lies.

I'll go with a stroke. There is precedence for that and it's a good cover for poisons and nerve agents.

A nice capture of an interesting piece of engineering equipment. It is a Russian U-77 Meterorit this is the Russian version of our M58 MCLIC. It is a device that clears lanes in mine fields. It fires an explosive filled line about 100m into a mine field and then cranks it off which causes the mines within ~4m to either side to explode due to overpressure.

Rob Lee Twitter

While it looks like it has a barrel that is actually a hinge and where the part that looks like a turrent pivots up and the line charge fires out in the opposite direction of the "barrel".

Ukraine wipes out Russian military convoy using US HIMARS and Estonian drones.

At about the 1:35 mark rockets appear to be shooting from some of the burning trucks. Can any of our military guys guess what was hit in the convoy?
