UPDATE ON UKRAINE 5 October 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Ukraine continues to make progress in offensive operations along both the north-eastern and southern fronts. In the north-east, in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine has now consolidated a substantial area of territory east of the Oskil River. Ukrainian formations have advanced up to 20 km beyond the river into Russia's defensive zone towards the supply node of the town of Svatove.
It is highly likely that Ukraine can now strike the key Svatove-Kremina road with most of its artillery systems, further straining Russia's ability to resupply its units in the east.
Politically, Russian leaders will highly likely be concerned that leading Ukrainian units are now approaching the borders of Luhansk Oblast, which Russia claimed to have formally annexed last Friday.

Key Takeaways
Ukrainian forces continued to make significant gains in Kherson Oblast while simultaneously continuing advances in Kharkiv and Luhansk Oblast.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of partial mobilization is having more significant short-term impacts on the Russian domestic context than on the war in Ukraine, catalyzing fractures in the information space that confuse and undermine Putin’s narratives.
Ukrainian forces continued to make substantial gains in northern Kherson Oblast on October 4, beginning to collapse the sparsely-manned Russian lines in that area.
Ukrainian forces continued to make gains in eastern Kharkiv Oblast west of Svatove on October 4, pushing past the Oskil River and increasingly threatening Russian positions in Luhansk Oblast.
Russian forces continued to conduct artillery, air, and missile strikes west of Hulyiapole and in Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv Oblasts on October 4.
Russian forces continued ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast on October 4.
The Kremlin effectively ordered local Russian administrations and non-Ministry of Defense institutions to fund a significant part of the mobilization effort from local budgets.
Russian security officials are attempting to maintain their domestic security apparatus as Putin’s partial mobilization drains the Russian security sector to generate additional forces to fight in Ukraine.

@ukraine_map
This town is straight north of Kherson, and its capture would open up a direct route that would significantly burden Russian defense. There were conflicting reports yesterday, so I think that this tweet is probably true and battles there are ongoing.

Ukrainian Forces ???? entered Snihurivka 2 days ago and control parts of it. Battles have been taking place inside and around the city
As of today, all commanders and Russian Officers have fled the city overnight, but Snihurivka is still CONTESTED

I think Russia should lose the territory it gained from Germany in WW2 .
Kaliningrad should go back to being Koenegsburg or Kralovec.

Sometimes you're game for intelligent dialogue and debate. Why do you prefer to troll?

You really get the sense that it’s all collapsing for the Russians. If this continues the way it’s currently going, Russia will lose the occupied territories (not Crimea yet)
Does Russia have any offensive power left?

Agree, and I know Germany has the much more potent historical claim, but would prefer it went to Poland to cut out this issue of having disconnected territory. Think Poland earned at least that as a joint concession from Russia and Germany from WWII. If I were Polish, at least from a security standpoint, I’d rather control of that land and coast come under Polish control. I’m sure Polish feelings on it are much more complex than my American viewpoint.
ETA: I pulled up Twitter to scroll for updates and Kalingrad is trending because a bunch of people trolling about Czech Republic holding a referendum and annexing it to return it to being Kralovec. There’s even a Twitter account for it now

Was just browsing his post history in this thread, I hope for his sake he's not a stock broker, his ability to gauge the future is not very good.

New Rybar map of the northeast offensive just dropped:
The news this morning in that area is the confirmation that Hrekivka and Makiivka have been freed. Here's another map highlighting those towns:
Makiivka sits on a crossing of the Zherebets and opens up easy access to the P-66 highway.
