Zelensky moves to Lviv with his green shirt and says that Ukraine will not surrender to Russia and demands more aid. Russia going anywhere west of Kiev will definitely draw more NATO backlash being that he is on NATO’s doorstep now and not on Russia’s. Russia has extended the war in to unfriendly territory and gotten much further to a conflict with NATO.

What the frick are you talking about? Russia is in Ukraine already. There is no such thing as 'NATO's doorstep.' It is also not true that Russia would be going into 'unfriendly territory' if they were going past Kiev, because they are already in 'unfriendly territory.' If Kiev wasn't important, then it is some wonder why the Russian themselves tried so hard to take it, looking at the initial invasion pattern. For some reason, that doesn't seem important to you. Odd.

Edit: NM. Looks like the info on Vovchansk withdrawal was a ukrainian hack of a telegram account.

I don't know if they can manage it, but if the Ukrainians have the troops and firepower to do so, now would be a perfect time to launch an attack on Melitopol and Mariupol from the Zaporizhzhia direction. The Russian army is posed to totally collapse.

I wish I could find what I was earlier reading this morning. It suggested Ukraine has extra capacity not engaging in the current counter offensive that could be meant for Melitopol.

If you look at a map of the area, there are no major north south roads beyond Kapyunsk for 100KM. There is a minor highway running N/S about 40 miles east of Kapyunsk.

[/img]

1. I have personally driven on that minor highway during a medical mission trip to Ukraine and Russia back in 2013. Unless it has been upgraded it is so narrow that it is barely a two lane road (I had to pull over when a truck was coming the other way) and it has bridges that are only one lane. I drove on it when it was dry. I cannot imagine trying to use it as a major supply route during the Rasputitsia when culverts and bridges get washed away regularly. Plus it is within HIMARs range. If the Russians have to resort to the using that minor road they should go ahead and sue for peace because they are screwed.

2. Since the Russians cannot move supplies effectively by road, it's the railroads that matter. Without Kupyansk the Russian supplies will have to go from their main supply base at Belgorod => Kursk => Voronezh => Millerovo => Luhansk => Severodonetsk. That is a 1020 km detour and both ends of the detour are within artillery range of Ukrainian forces.

3. You are a little late to the party. The spearhead of the Ukrainian offensive has already started moving south, and the Russians are abandoning Lyman before they get encircled like the the troops in Izyum did.

4. My sauce(s) say that there are very few Russian troops holding the line between Voychansk and Kypyhansk and most of them are LPR militia. My sauce(s) said that the Ukrainians are also deploying some reserves from the Dnipro area to the front north of Kharkiv and are going to try and clear out the Russians by pushing east to the Russian border and then south to Kupyansk with these new troops. That way they get combat experience and do not have to redeploy their veterans the Kupyansk offensive or the Kherson offensive and they do not have to slow either offensive to push the Russians out of north east Ukraine. This maybe disinformation because my sauce(s) have done that in the past, but I'm just passing on what my sauce(s) said.

Who is winning this war right now?

Russia still has the lead, but it on its heels. Ukraine is chipping away at the lead, Ukraine has the momentum at the moment, Ukraine has the ball and is on the offensive, and there is plenty of time left on the clock.

Ukraine loses 100's of soldiers daily simply from artillery fire. When the US stops sending funds (and it will), Russia will begin to size the opportunity with more technological weapons.

They are toying with Ukraine right now.

They've had >100 tanks, IFV's, air defense, thousands of soldiers KIA and POW in the last few days.

Russia has 'em right where it wants 'em?

We have not even sent them 100 billion USD yet. Complaining about sending them trillionS is jumping the shark.

Twitter has been around since the late 2000s. During that time it has provided information regarding the arab spring, the libyian civil war, the Syrian civil war, the Maiden revolution, ISIS and the fight against ISIS, the Israeli excursions into the Gaza strip, and much more. Twitter information (not all of it but a lot of it) has not only been accurate but way ahead of what the media and governments report. So why should this war be any different than things that twitter has provided information for over the last 15 years or so?

This thread has more fiction than anything Steven King ever wrote.
