Yeah, and where does that lead?
There's no world in which we can go back to the pre-war status quo. It's either adapt or die, as has been the way of the world for a long time.

Lots of reports of Ukrainians striking at multiple points of the Russian lines around Kherson.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 29 August 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
Recent independent Russian media reports have claimed that due to the problems Russia is facing in its war against Ukraine, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu is now being side-lined within the Russian leadership, with operational commanders briefing President Putin directly on the course of the war.
Russian officers and soldiers with first-hand experience of the war probably routinely ridicule Shoigu for his ineffectual and out-of-touch leadership as Russian progress has stalled. Shoigu has likely long struggled to overcome his reputation as lacking substantive military experience, as he spent most of his career in the construction sector and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Ukrainian Troops Broke Through First Line Of Defense Of Russian Invaders Near Kherson
The terrorists of the so-called "DPR" withdrew from their positions in Kherson region, and the Russian paratroopers, who were supposed to provide support for the militants, fled the battlefield. This was reported by the Kakhovka operative group.
"The 109th regiment of the “DPR” withdrew from its positions in Kherson region, the Russian paratroopers supporting them escaped from the battlefield," the statement reads.
Ukrainian News Agency
Another source in the southern group of the Armed Forces noted that there had been a breakthrough in some areas of the first line of Russian defence, but "it's too early to say anything in particular yet because it's a large front."
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched offensive actions on many fronts in Ukraine's South," reports Nataliya Humenyuk, the head of the Joint Press Centre of the Security and Defence Forces Pivden (South).

Both. The first time the aid station was set up we were in range. The Russians shelled the position for about 10 minutes and since we set up in a square they had to be aiming for us. One two shells hit within 10 m of the aid station. We then move back a few km and the Russians kept shelling the area but they just wasted their ammo on an empty square since
we had moved. The Ukrainian soldiers said that they estimated that it took the Russians 500-1000 artillery shells to take out one target.

Malcontent reported this morning that the armed forces of Ukraine issued an official statement at 5:56 a.m. US Central time that the counter offensive has begun. There’s too much excitement and confusion right now to get any broad reporting, but it appears to be big.

Blya da! I had a suspicion that the offensive was coming soon when my buddy’s tank battalion left Dnipro last week and he said he would not be able to talk for awhile.

My theory on what’s happening: the Ukrainian military has found a weak spot in Russian defenses in Kherson Oblast (possibly on the southern bank of the Inhulets River) and decided to deliver a strike.
I think it’s at the tactical level, but we’ll see.

Too early to tell. Probably a limited attack, but it seems there is the requisite confusion:

Something very serious is definitely happening in the Kherson direction. I do not remember such an intense flow of information about explosions and attacks on Russian positions during the entire war. There are also serious reports about a counteroffensive operations .

The Russians believe the Counter has begun. Estonians and Czechs are saying sufficient men and materials are in place. Intercepts point to near constant shelling and RU retreating.

I hope this is the case, but I am at the I will believe it when I see it stage. The have announced offensives beginning before that haven’t been much.

UK produces natural gas from the North Sea. It imports via pipeline from Norway and via LNG from the USA and Qatar. It had imported a little from Russia but nothing substantial.
UK's electrical prices were an issue before Feb 2022, when blocking highs stalled wind turbines without wind.
As far as Europe, All but Germany has been importing LNG in large quantities from the USA. Exports from the USA as LNG has dropped the last couple of year to China, South Korea and Japan. My guess is that Japan and South Korea have been sourcing more from Australia. China likely sold its contracted supply to Europe at a profit.
The Drama Queen is going to drama queen away, yet has never once been a drama queen about Russian lost revenue.

Ukrainian success in Kherson is the best path to shortening this war - which is with Russia leaving occupied territory.
