The EU just committed to buying 2/3 less raw petroleum from Russia. Looks like the pressure is coming from all sides.
But Ukraine has some nice goodies on the way and more troops entering the fray. I'd tell France and Germany to frick off (for now)

The Germans are a welching disgrace. They have slow walked every arms delivery on purpose. They still have not delivered the Panzerhaubitz 2000 long range howitzers that they promised. France and Germany have colluded on how to get around the sanctions also. I would hate to see American forces have to fight another war to defend those two.

Yelstin is a good example of that, Russia was edging into failed state status by the end of his rule. Tsar Nicholas II is another, his weakness broke the country, and opened the door to the horrors of Bolshevik rule.
Stalin was another failure. Russia almost ran out of food and space in the Gulags.

I can't vouch for any of this, and have no idea of the location other than "Donetsk region", but this purported intercepted phone conversation is pretty chilling for those backing the Russians:
LINK
quote:
(R)=Russian soldier (W)=Woman
(R):Last night the commander arrived.
(W): The company commander arrived?
(R):What company? The area… the f*cker came here. He was asked a question… by someone whos contract is ending… And he asked me – “How long until the end of your contract?”. I said – “20-something days”. He – “Well, you have twenty days to die here.
(W): Is he out of his f*cking mind?
(R):Yep. And then everyone started refusing going forward, going to the front. That’s bullshite now. Our BTG, of 600 people, we have 215 people remaining. Everyone else is either killed or wounded.
(W): F*cking motherf*cker. Is he f*cking nuts?
(R):Yeah… in our battery almost everyone refused, f*ck. He started waving with his gun, shooting, said – “I’ll kill you if you don’t go there!”. And then this kid says – “Come on, kill!”. F*ck, he pulled out the grenade, the pin, and said – “Come on, shoot me, come on! We’ll blow up together here”. That’s all. Even spetsnaz were pointing guns at us, and we pointed guns at them too. In short, we almost shot each other, f*ck. He got in his car and left.
(W): F*ck this! Go home now!
(R):I think so too, f*ck. After his words I don’t want to stay here at all! F*ck this! He said – “You have twenty days…”
(W): What’s his last name?
(R):Solodchuk. Col. General.
(W): Scumchuk?
(R):So-lod-chuk. Col. General.
(W): F*cking f***ot. Is he insane?
(R):Thing is, our brigade is just unable to capture anything anymore, since, for f*cks sake, there’s nothing left here! Everything is smashed up! There’s no personnel left, there’s f*ck all! F*ck, we only have one staff gun commander remaining. We have only two guns left out of twelve! Everything is smashed up to bits! And out of the 12 vehicles, only three that can still move!

Another war to defend Germany?
Maybe they know a little more about their backyard than you and the Biden admin.

So Ukraine should just give up and sign some BS deal and no longer exist as a sovereign country? Who’s next after Ukraine falls? The last 20 years it was the Middle East now this, but a nut in charge of Russia who’s out to bring something back that’s been long dead is something completely different. If the West can possibly nip it in the bud with weapons and money without troops on the ground then it’s definitely better than other possible outcomes.

We’re speaking theoretically here, but Taiwan would be my guess.

And Ukraine has demonstrated the will to stand up and fight for themselves. All we need to go is help feed and arm them. They are paying the price in sweat and blood.

Yeltsin was bad but you can’t really put all the blame on him. The Russian people literally tore their economic system up and started over. That takes time.
Even the USA struggled its first ten years after breaking free of colonialism.
Is there any example of a nation instantly becoming successful after reversing their economic structure?

I know enough. You didn't understand this. As an organization, Radio Liberty received a long time ago, just like the Voice of America, I have known them since the days of the USSR. But about Biden ... this is a puppet of the same clan that includes and pays for all this benefit, Radio Liberty, the "elections" in the United States, when Trump happened, and you said that Biden won and so on.
I come here to catch up on things once a week. You might know enough about something, but sentence structure isn't it.

How can Russia becoming the super power they once were, with China right beside them be good for the USA? What am I missing? Please don’t tell me it has anything to do with American politicians or coverups for politicians.

So is Russia about win? I’m even starting to see normal news accept it.

The media in this country, especially when it comes to our affairs are usually full of shite. If talking about what Russia is currently doing thence it’s completely different. I guess the Cold War never happened and Russia and China aren’t the biggest threats to the American way of life.

quote:Exactly. Putin is trying to buy leverage by putting everything into this last push for the Severodonesk - Izyum pocket. At great cost. If the Russians close this pocket (if they have any troops left), Putin will be able to declare victory to the Russian population by claiming possession of the Lugansk Oblast.
Be prepared for the Germans and French to start putting pressure on Ukraine to strike a deal. It's coming.
At that point Scholz, Orban and Macron will show their true colors. While publically continuing to 'send thoughts and prayers' (and little else) to the Ukrainians, in private meetings they will threaten to split the EU / NATO coalition in order to force the Ukrainians to negotiate. This will keep Putin from showing the world press the records of their past bribery.
The problem with this scenario is that the Ukrainians, Americans, English, Poles, Romanians, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians won't buy it. The Ukrainians don't need anyone's permission to keep fighting and Scholz and Macron don't have the stones to force the split. Their faction will be isolated and the public pressure on them will build. Eventually the dirt Putin has on them will be released by 'non-Russian' sources.
Macron just won re-election, but the pressure on Scholz is huge. His behavior is starting to get weird. Last week he took a diplomatic trip to South Africa. South Africa for God's Sake, talk about running away from your problems...
