re: Latest Updates: Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Not reaching Moscow before the Russian winter but more than the the cold it was the mud that stopped the German army in its tracks. They had never experienced conditions like that which made their superior armor useless. The war ended December 11th, 1941; the day Hitler declared war on the USA. It was just a matter of time from there. They had horses and we had GM and Ford. The bombing of Pearl Harbor might have been the best day of Churchill’s life.

Russia got what it wanted plain and simple.
Russia today is a poorer (IMF projects a 30% decline in its economy this year and their foreign currency reserves went poof), smaller (300,000 Russians are estimated to have emigrated since the start of the war) and more isolated nation (sanctioned by governments and abandoned by foreign investors) than on February 23. It’s military is also much weaker today (see sailors smoking on deck)
And the bleeding of men and resources for Russia is just beginning. This isn’t 22 AD where the invaders haul of the bounty from Gaul back to Rome. It is 2022. Occupying a foreign nation today does not enrich the occupier. It bleeds them.
If Russia has gotten what it wanted it is a masochist.

6 million women, children and old folks fled. Fighting aged men stuck around. "I need bullets, not a ride" isn't exactly begging - it is the truth. Putin's biggest miscalculation was Zelensky's ability to rally his people.
Literally none of this long arse post or the other guy that responded to me actually goes against anything I said. No one thought Ukraine stood a chance in this war when the Russians first crossed the border. Luckily everyone was wrong. So unless you want to point to a post or yours or anyone else’s from the first couple weeks of the invasion that says “Yeah, Ukraine has this shot in the bag” then I don’t know why you’re arguing with me.

It seems to me if they thought Russia would steamroll Ukraine and achieve their blitzkrieg goals, they wouldn't have done that.
They would have just sat back in the shadows and moved on with the results. They believed Ukraine had a chance or we never would have seen that behavior from them.

The goal for the US has always been make Russia pay for every inch they take.
That goal has evolved to bleed the Russians out.
And be careful giving intel (especially US) too much or any credit. Same group that brought you Pearl Harbor, Battle of the Bulge and Tet.

It seems to me you’re making assumptions based on nothing other than confirmation bias. Unless of course you want to point to me a post of yours that says you that Ukraine would win because the US shared some intel with Ukraine prior to the invasion

Did you? And if so can you point me to a post saying you thought as much?

itler did what made sense on paper, the Nazis were never going to win the war
He made a few terrible decisions that cost them the war. One example is after the development of the jet engine, hitler thought it better to delay manufacturing until a bomber jet was made rather than producing fighter jets that were already designed

Irrelevant question but I'll answer anyway.
I thought they would put up a fight but had no clue as to how long they could last.
If you had said "Nobody but the Ukrainians thought they had a chance" then I would have agreed.

Which is why I consider Hitler's decision to delay the drive on Moscow by 6 weeks to capture Kyiv Hitler's biggest mistake. The decision to invade the USSR was a mistake, but Germany still had a chance. If it had not wasted 6 weeks trying to capture an encircled Kyiv for political reasons and pushed on towards Moscow then Germany's forces would have been in a much better position and the Soviets in a worse position to when the fall Rasputitsa ended and the ground froze.

In the first days of the invasion I (like probably almost everyone) assumed that the Russian military was better organized and better equipped than it was.
However, by the beginning of March, I had become convinced that Russia had made a massive miscalculation and that Ukraine held the upper hand. By that time it was clear that the only way Russia could have any chance of recovery was to get out as soon as possible.
Of course, Russia did not do that. (They rarely follow my advice.) And as I said then, the trap is sprung.

I did and I have the post history to prove it. I gave Ukraine some chance based on how much I know the Ukrainians hate the Russians. Hold on a minute and I will go back a few months in my post history and prove it.

I have not checked the weather in Ukraine lately. Is there a cold front coming that will cause the ground to freeze? If the ground does not freeze Russia will be stuck in the mud.
Nothing to see here except me accurately predicting the Russian invasion route through the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone a week before the invasion.

The 130,000 Russian troops should be really mad at having to live in out door barracks the last several months, in the middle of a freezing Russian winter.
What about the 650,000 Ukrainian soldiers on the other side of the line that have been living in trenches during the same winter?
Just me accurately predicting Ukraine not rolling over for Russia back in January.
Should I continue? Of course it's a little unfair for me to take all the credit since I have sauce(s) in the UAF, Ukrainian intelligence, friends in Ukraine, and friends in Russia. To any NSA/CIA/FBI or LEO reading this. No I have not received any compensation from anyone in Ukraine or Russia and I have only been told what was already made public in Ukraine and Russia.
