It reminds me of a forest version of Hwy 80 in Iraq in '91. I am sure every that was alive then saw it on TV but some others I am sure saw it in person. What struck me was when you would see multiple armored vehicles jammed up against each other and it was obvious they have just plowed into each other in the clusterfrick of their futile attempt not to die.

Way too old and infirm. But my brain still works like a steel trap. If you are scared of the bomb, prepare for the likelihood. It's better to be underground for a while than to lose your hair every day to radiation sickness.

Is Popsana becoming the main effort?

The Ukrainians have been within artillery range of the railroad and highways running through Vovchansk which are the main GLOC for the Izium axis for a week now. The railroad running through Vovchansk are not the only only GLOC of for the Izium axis, but all of the GLOC for the Izium axis of advance merge in the town/city of Kupiansk. The Ukrainians have stopped their advance toward Kupiansk in order to focus on securing Vovchansk, but they are only about 50 km from Kupyansk on the west with a main highway to advance down and no major terrain barriers for the Russians to use to stop them. The Ukrainians are also on the same side of the Siverskyi Donetsk River as Kupyansk so they can advance on it from two fronts once they secure Vovchansk. If the Ukrainians capture Kupyansk then the Russian forces on the Izium axis of advance have 0 GLOC to Russia or Russian held territory in Ukraine. It would make sense that Popsana is becoming the main axis of advance both to limit the effect of losing GLOC to Izium and to try an encircle Severodontsk and esthablish an additional GLOC to the forces on the Izium axis of advance before they are cut off. Of course the Ukrainians have only been pushed out of Popasna, but they still control the the hills west of Popasna so any GLOC running through Popasna is in artillery range of the current Ukrainian front lines. The Ukrainians also control the hills north of Popasna and the Russians will have to push them off and out of artillery range of the railroad and highway that connect Popasna to Severodonetsk. Given that the M777s and the 2S7 Pion have firing ranges of over 40 km and it has taken Russia over a month to advance 20 km on that front that might be a tall order which is probably why all the experts are saying they do not know if the RUssians can do it.

Anyone willing to risk nuclear war to show up a mean dictator that attacked a sovereign country is being too idealistic.

Substitute "WWII" for "nuclear war" and you have Europe in the late 1930's.

The West will stay out of the war. Really? Ukraine would have been part of Russia again months ago if not for the US and NATO arming them to the teeth with advanced weaponry. We are knee deep in this war. And Russia knows that they are losing all their tanks and planes and men because of the weapons we are sending them. If Russia ever gets desperate, the nukes will fly. Keep poking the bear.

Obviously both myself and the person whom I replied to mean DIRECTLY involved.

Yikes.

Putin is literally Hitler.

Invading his neighbors: check

Committing war crimes and possibly genocide: check

Interfering with the operations of the armed forces to their detriment: check

Putin might no be Hitler, but he is acting like Hitler.

A good bit of the wrecked vehicles and tanks were still there in 2009 when we drove through on the way to another site.

I’ve never seen a bear commit suicide. I have see a bear greedily stick its head into a jar and then flail about as it’s unable to extract itself.

The real question Russia needs to ask itself right now is will it be more painful to let the white man or the china man remove the jar.
