I don’t remember where I read it but this was weeks ago. With politics they might have backed out on it but I know it was at least on the table. I know it it very expensive to replenish but hell so is every piece of modern military hardware these days.

She had nothing to do with the war. She was a tool of Biden. Go somewhere else with your BS. This is the official war thread.

There's a reason why we're employing Israeli Trophy APSs on our Abrams.

Those baws know their shite when it comes to conventional warfare. Tends to happen when you're surrounded by nations that want to eradicate you.

Seems like the Ukrainians could really use the MLRS. I don't get the "escalation" argument. Hell, the Russians are lobbing cruise missiles at Ukraine from much further distances.

Biden resists Ukrainian demands for long-range rocket launchers

I’ve got all the respect I’m the world for the Israeli military. They have to deal with a lot of bullshite and have no friends anywhere near them. They also have some of the hottest soldiers on the planet. Israeli women in battle gear = yes please!

OK, double major with political science? Granted, I will say that Russian is a hard language to learn, but do you know of how many midwits I know that have a degree in Mandarin and political science or international business? Lots of them, myself included. Those qualifications are a fricking joke. Yeah I was in business meetings with members of the CCP, but just because I spent three years over there does not make me a true expert in those regards even if I know the ropes. Sorry, I know multiple people with Nina Jankowicz‘s qualifications, and they aren’t impressive people.

Weren't a lot of your posts earlier in this thread and others about what an expert you were on China because of your business links?

Oh the stories I have after spending several months there over multiple trips doing exercise planning for Juniper Cobra and Juniper Falcon.

Ukraine is finished with Donbas/Odessa going to the Russians. They realized this after the failed Kyiv seize. The goal now is to bleed them out economically instead of a total destruction of their government by force. Russia knows that over the coming years the US general public will grow tired of the endless money being supplied to Ukraine when we have more than enough problems going on at home. Ukraine will collapse.

1. When did Russia attack Odessa? Last I checked, Russia was several hundred km away from Odessa.

2. The Battle for Sevierdonetsk is just starting. Russia might encircle it but Ukraine will likely cut Russia’s main GLOC to those forces which would mean that Russia is trapped just like the Germans were at Stalingrad.

3. It took the USA twenty years to give up on Afghanistan and 15 years to give up on Vietnam. Russia doesn’t have 15 - 20 weeks until it collapses let alone 15 - 20 years.

4. Ukraine is getting more internal aid than it knows what to do with and Russia is having to sell oil and gas using shell companies in Kazakstan for less than half market price.

5. You need to schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist because you are delusional.

I’ll put it this way: if something went to hell between the US and China, would y’all trust me with that? Obviously not, because I’d be in way over my head when it comes to this, even if I could walk into the room and roughly understand things. I never really truly understood Chinese slang, and I’m willing to bet it’s the same with Nina and Russian. Those are bottom of the barrel qualifications. She is not truly an expert.

By what qualification do you have to judge whether she is an expert on anything or not, having never met her, never spoken with her, never read or talked with her references, and never interviewed her for a job?

I am sure there are those here who will disagree with this assessment of Russia's pyrrhic victory in Mariupol.

From ISW: https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-may-18
quote:

Russian occupation authorities announced plans to destroy the Azovstal Steel Plant and turn Mariupol into a resort city, depriving Russia of some of the most important economic benefits it hoped to reap by taking the city in the first place. Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) Denis Pushilin stated that DNR authorities are planning to level Azovstal after completing its capture.[1]

Azovstal was a major element of Mariupol’s economy before the war because of its unique function as a full-cycle metallurgical complex, the 10,000 jobs associated with production at the plant, the billions of dollars of foreign exchange earnings and taxes it generated, and its production output of 7,000 tons of steel, 6 million tons of iron, and 4.5 million tons of rolled metal, according to the Mariupol City Council.[2]

Pushilin stated that the DNR intends to rebuild Mariupol to be a “resort city,” while admitting that 60% of the structures in Mariupol have been destroyed to the point where they cannot be rebuilt.[3] The announced plan to turn Mariupol into a center of tourism and leisure following the complete destruction of a major center of economic activity in Mariupol, is indicative of the damage that Russian troops have inflicted on themselves through the destruction of Mariupol. Russia does not need another resort town on the Black Sea. It does need the kind of hard currency that a plant like Azovstal had generated. This announcement epitomizes the kind of Pyrrhic victories Russian forces have won in Ukraine, to the extent that they have won victories at all.

I hope that Ukraine will rebuild it after they liberate it from Russia.

When this war is over, there is probably going to be shite tons of money gifted to and invested in Ukraine.

Will Ukraine join Nato in the wake of this war?
