LAMP: Sorry… had a sobering moment of reality today

I’m a forty something year old man supposedly in my prime and stood on my future burial lot… time flies people, just really strange knowing the site of your demised body until God brings the resurrection of his Church…

People still buy burial plots?

You don't know that.
Is the phrase "the body was unrecoverable" foreign to you.
Just kidding, baw.

I’m doing a cardboard box and cremation.

I don't know which vultures are worse-----the funeral director or little known relatives coming out the woodwork looking to see if you left them anything.............
Cremation for me and the wife can do what she wants with the ashes. No funeral, no burial, no obituary in the paper.

Told my family to take all that money that would have been wasted on a casket and burial plot and buy expensive booze for my wake.

Big deal. Everyone dies.
Not everyone gets to pick their burial spot.

Want to hear something more sobering? One day in the not too distant future nobody will ever think of you again

Get a grip on yourself. I'm 82 and don't have time to worry about that kind of shite!

I do this every time I attend a funeral back home in Monroe... my entire family (mother side) buried in the same area of Richwood Memorial... I always thought this was common because every family I know from Monroe does it...

Yep but looking at wreckage of a car or plane and knowing you made it out alive is probably just as impactful.

Why would you spend that kind of money to drop a wooden box in the ground?
Posted on 4/9/24 at 5:06 pm to Luke
Your body might be there but your soul will not.
Posted on 4/9/24 at 5:07 pm to Luke
I won't need one. I plan on going out by calling in an airstrike on my own position.

It damn sure does.
Enjoy life, love 'em with all your heart, and trust God.

Yup, you'll be like any gumbo in north LA, not remembered, but if remembered it'll be bad.

I told my family to just throw my body in a dumpster or something.
