I've seen it on every channel. These reporters are "pretty " people and have to compete with all the other network rubes. Also most of the ones sent out are the bottom of the ladder, just starting out and dare I say it Millenials. They have to earn that $18k salary and the monogrammed Columbia raincoat.
Not a lot of Walter Cronkite's on the streets of Houston.

Good for that lady.
I was watching the weather channel yesterday and they were interviewing a dude who had a boat and was our rescuing people. He was doing a 10 minute interview, pretty much in tears, telling stories of how many people needed help and how sad it was to see these people trapped.
My first thought was, instead of crying on tv about it like a bitch, which you get your 10 minutes of fame, you should probably be back out on your boat trying to help the damn people you are crying about. What a waste of time, in a situation where people might not have much time remaining to be helped. But hey, the dude got his fame on national tv and can tell all his grand kids about it one day.

I don't think most of y'all realize how these live spots are done, especially during situations like this.

I hate CNN just as much as the next person but I don't think anybody forced the lady to an interview. If she didn't want the microphone in her face she could have easily declined the interview.

Good. frick those idiots. Weather Channel and fox did it too. "How does it feel to lose everything and almost die?"
Motherfricker how do you think it feels?
I said that in my Samuel L Jackson voice in my head just now.

Ah the liberal news media. No common sense at all. They really should just go back to hating on Trump.
You do realize Fox News was doing the same thing right?
Reporters have been doing this for decades - usually the first job a reporter gets is to follow up on disasters, murder/suicides, stuff like that. And ask questions exactly like this. Politics has nothing to do with it.

Or maybe she took the interview because she feels the same way as 90% of the people who posted in this thread and wanted to say her piece.
Or maybe she was too disoriented by her situation to have the wherewithal to refuse the interview. And then in the course of the interview was overcome by her emotions and vented.
I see a lot of people making judgements about this woman who have no idea who she is. For all you know her and her husband may be hard working people who got caught in a bad situation. I can tell you that based on what I'm seeing, places that have NEVER flooded are flooding. And the flood waters came up so fast it was mind boggling. People are reeling and these reporters are relentless. Yes, they have a job to do. But you should be smarter than to pick someone who is wet, cold and shivering for your subject. And instead of the leading questions, how about, Are you ok? Do you need to get a message to someone? But they want the big dramatic interview so they can make their mark. I think this reporter got just what she deserved.

Yeah pretty much everyone local and national has someone on a boat taking up space. I understand we need coverage but there are more important things.

Who the hell has 2 kids and doesn't have enough food in their house to make it more than a day? You should have that even without a hurricane bearing down on you.
I know she's stressed out and I appreciate the message that she's sending to the reporter, but that's some straight up shitty parenting.

This is a good point. She mentioned that she had been there stranded, waiting for help for 5 days and nobody came. She was clearly distraught.

I guess CNN found the one pissed person who vented.
Let's just ignore why she was pissed off.
She'd just been rescued and was cold, hungry and wet and instead of getting what she and her child needed she got a microphone shoved in her face by a reporter looking for a story. I'd be pissed off too.

Fun fact: the CNN a reporter in the video in the OP used to work at WBRZ a few years ago. Rosa Flores.

but again, why act like a huge bitch when you agreed to the interview? She's lying by saying they're just shoving the microphone in her face. Walk off if you or your kids feel uncomfortable. I hate media as much as the next guy but that was a little obnoxious

He is complaining that my guy in Houston isn't doing work. I point blank asked him if he realized that a once in a lifetime flood is happening in Houston. He said he had no clue.
Unfortunately I believe this is the case:
I think he probably does know and just doesn't care. People not in natural disasters just don't care about natural disasters. My company has bunkers set up so that if we all die in a disaster someone else can do our job in a different country and we won't be missed at all. The world is too big to be slowed down by human issues.

I suspect it's more about not taking the time to think about how the world appears to someone else. Most people have a pretty hard time doing that.

Some judgemental arse hats in this thread and you're one of them.
